It's a work truck, so I hope you use it for what it was intended, not keep it in a garage for 20 years. Along those lines, you should get it sprayed with rustproofing goo. That is NOT the same as undercoating, but something like the Ziebart stuff of 30-40 years ago. It works, but it depends on the applier knowing how to get the goo into all the nooks, crannies, and crevices. On an old vehicle like that, it should be easy to get it into the seams and inner panels. My 1973 911 was sprayed with Ziebart when it was new, and then was driven for 20 years and 110,000 miles in Virginia, and it has one of the most rust-free bodies I've seen on an early 911.

Good video on how to get such a coating into impossible to reach areas, like inside frame rails

Thanks for the nice comments, as well as the tips, guys. PeteK- I will look into that; and as I mentioned, THIS truck is going to get used and enjoyed "as is", instead of getting restored. I already have an over-restored '65 F100 to just get driven to shows and look pretty. This '67 is very presentable, but rough enough that it is at the perfect point for just driving it around and enjoying as a survivor. My kids have already become enamored with it, have named it Hank, and want to drive it to school some (which I will allow). My dog Josie (golden retriever) has staked her claim in the box every time we load up, too.

That's a fabulous truck. I also have a soft spot for old Ford pickups like that. Great find!

F250 High Boy

OK, so I caught the old truck bug last summer. I bought (and have been working on) a 1968 F250 4x4. These trucks were known as "High Boys" since they came lifted from the factory.

For those interested, I have a build thread going (lots of pictures) on an old truck forum that you can see here: http://www.fordification.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=87777

Here are a few photos after some work:

Dakota GT, that is a great F truck, thanks for posting. Much fun to drive those we choose to, it really makes the ownership experience much fuller. But isn't it great to have both a show truck and a go truck?

Floridaho Chris, what a great addition to your amazing stable. I've seen your posts here over the years and enjoyed your posts from the other forum, thanks for sharing all.

I too got the truck bug a while ago but mine is a bit older with much less HP. It was in nice shape when I bought it but I've since made minor changes to enhance originality and improve quality. Not really much of a driver, we get it out for slow rides on country drives, that's about it, but still fun.

Chris, that is an awesome truck too. I had a 73 "high boy" in the 90's, I so wished it was in the shape both of these trucks are in, then (I'd still have it). Mine had a 390 with a 4 speed (manual), and open Supertrapps. Didnt look good, but sure sounded good. It even still had its "split ring" wheels (yikes).

Hope this thread brings out some more trucks!

Yeah, my ‘67 has the original split rims/rings, and I am going to drive the truck for now as it is, since the rubber is still good on it. Will probably ditch them for some solid rims at some point. Getting harder to find tire shops who will even touch those split rims, even here in farm country. And I don’t blame them.

I love old Fords! Here is my '64 Ranchero heading off to the vintage moto-x races with my '67 CZ 250.

I'm at about 60% progress on over restoring a 64 Ford F100 4x4

I am really fighting the urge to "over-restore". I really want to drive this thing all the time and not worry about it. I have enough iron sitting around that doesn't get driven because I'm too proud of it!
