Last Thursday was a beautiful day in Va. Had "take the GT out for a drive" written all over it. Car "only" had a 1/2 tank of gas-needs to be filled up. :biggrin
Coming back home[what a SWEET car!] on a 2 lane road through the woods, traffic, going 50 mph in a 55 zone, a large doe jumps out of the woods at a 45 deg. angle to my car going like a bat out of hell. Catch sight of her out of the corner of my eye, stand on the brakes[no one behind me], say "Miss it!" to myself, but she slams into the front of the right fender. :ack
Pull off the road, can't believe this happened, get out to look at the car, 2 good size dents around the right fender side light, right front head light doesn't look right, deer fur between the right front wheel rim and tire, :ack :ack :ack
My BABY is at Karosserie in Pa. and I'll find out more this week. Could have been worse, I guess-frontal hit, up over the windshield, onto the clamshell, swerve to avoid her and have a head-on with someone in the other lane etc. It's a Comp Claim so insurance will take car of it.
Helluva way to start the winter. :frown

Karosserrie, PA is one of the best shops in the country http://www.karosserie.com/

Seen their work at Pebble Beach, Meadowbrook, Amelia Island, etc.

Sorry to hear about it.

Over population, largely brought about by tree huggers, results in inhumane suffering in the way of starvation and traffic related deaths. They're out there smellin' cat right now and it's makin' em' crazy. Thanks for the post; it's an excellent reminder of what can happen when you least expect it.

Wow, do I feel your pain. :frown We're overrun by deer here in Fairfax Station as well and I cringe just driving the back roads around here this time of year. Karosserrie does awesome work but I might would have sent it back to Saleen, they do warranty, repair, paint, aftermarket work, etc. But I know you're in good hands up there in PA as well. Stuff happens, glad you're OK!

Dan,
After the deer hit the car and I was pulling over, I glanced in the mirror and saw she was falling down by the side of the road as she tried to run off. A young couple behind me saw all this[were following me to see what kind of car I was driving], stopped, and the gentleman slit the deer's throat and dragged it back into the woods. They then drove up to me to see if they could help-left names and phone no's in case I needed a witness.
Good folks who did the right humane act.

1000% agreed!!! If the animal is wounded beyond help then put it to rest. I personally am an animal lover but would put it down if needed. People bitch about deers running into their cars, like it wants to get hit by 3500 pounds moving at 70 mph. Thanks for the reply Tiger, glad you're okay! The car will be as good as new when repaired, don't sweat it...Dan
P.S. Give those folks a :thumbsup for doing the right thing!!!

Bummer! I've seen the damage they can do to 18 wheelers, so I think you're lucky, believe it or not.

Sad story, glad your ok and the car is only nicked up.
A good friend was hit the same way (side punched at full gallop) on his Harley a few months back. If not being followed by and off duty EMT on his way home from work with a direct line to his ambulance co. he wouldn't have made it.

We feel for you, but I understand that your baby is in good hands, it could have been much worse. :frown

Avoiding Bambi

I trailered my gal to Kershaw, SC last week for a track day for this very reason. On the way down I must have noticed half a dozen road kills. I kept thinking how dangerous the roads are during rutting season. I wouldn't drive at night for anything. :frown

Hey tiger, that body shop does AMAZING work. I got a friend who goes there to talk to his buddy, and they recently did an Enzo, so your baby is in best hands it could be in. It will look better than before, don't you worry. :thumbsup

Jamie,
It happened north west of Richmond on RT 711, Robious Road going toward Powhatan, Va.It is a narrow 2 lane road in the country, no shoulders, pretty drive, and "used to be" a fun road to drive.
