New Year's drive

So I took the GT out for a quick (or rather slow, due to conditions) drive. Weather here yesterday was hi 20s, but all the roads are now clear and clean, and I know, I know, below 50 F, ya gotta keep it really cool and take it easy. I figured this was a lot more fun than hooking up the trickle charger. Out for about 45 minutes, but most amusing (and ironic) thing; got 1/2 a tank of premium at local station for $1.81/gal. Last fillup in late October was still north of $4/gal.
The looks on people filling up, (mostly winterized sport utes and the like) when I pulled in with the GT was priceless.

I'm getting withdrawl from having my car in storage...is it really that bad if i drive it around? most of the salt here in chicago has been washed out because we had a 50 degree day and it melted everything.

besides - on a modern exotic, is there a real risk to corrosion?

how many of you live in crap weather climates and sneak your cars out in winter?

Your billet A-Arms will turn white if you get salt on them. And yes, the salt will cause damage if it gets in the nooks and crannys. I have seen it on GTs more than once. If you take it for a drive, make sure and get all salt off of it before you put it back up

Was watching DREAM CAR GARAGE and they showed some special stuff to wash the salt off on a Buick GNX. I was not paying attention, as Mrs. Bony only uses Sea Salt or Kosher Salt and that is at the dinner table... we don't need it in Fresno....

well...glad i didn't try it out then. I was actually about to but then remembered that i shouldn't care so much about the salt as the potholes...

Glad I live in California, went for a drive every day last week and New Years Eve. Drizzly today so it will stay in the garage.

You have to be careful that your Margarita salt does not get in small nooks and crannies in the GT.

'Really wouldn't think so. If there weren't significant gains to be had with the tune, I doubt the tune would be available (other than for the extra $$$:lol). 'Just MO.

I completely understand. The drizzle is gone and it is sunny, but cool. Went for a short ride this AM, very nice! But I feel for those with less drivable, um...climate!

Ron,
What is Steve doing to your seats? Did you see Shelby's two tone seats on that TT he had at the Rally. I thought the workmanship was masterful.

Daniel,
That is a pic of my seat !

Hey Ron haven't we discussed this topic ?
