Good evening everyone, thanks for letting me be part of your group.
I’m starting to educate myself more on the 05-06 GT before making the move on a driver GT with 5 digit miles.
In avance, I will try to spellcheck my posts but even the naturalisation process 15 years ago did not improve my English that much, so please excuse my Frenglish….
Hello from Illinois, happy holidays to all.

Welcome. This is probably the best place for info on the 05-06. Use SEARCH to see if the topic has been covered before starting a new one though as almost every obvious question has already been asked and answered.

Occasionally cars come up for sale here but most people have moved to Bring A Trailer so if you've got specs in mind keep a look over there...

Good luck!!!

PS. Fill out some more of your profile info. It helps to know where you are.

Welcome to the Forum. Your Frenglish is pretty good.

If you want a driver car, definitely go for one with 5-digit miles, the more the better. Cars that don’t get driven regularly have more problems than those that do. I have 90,000 miles and two other guys here have 150,000 miles on theirs, without major problems, just regular maintenance and parts replacement (wear and tear).

Watch and wait. Go look at some cars now so you become familiar with them. Research past threads on this Forum and ask questions here. Then wait for the right one.

Something you will hear many times is to get a PPI by someone who knows these cars well. That may require some travel expenses too, but is well worth the price.

When you get one, of course let us know. And then drive it frequently. These are absolute fun to drive and are among the best driving and most reliable supercars ever made.

@PeterK Thank you very much, is there a list of PPI specialist?

Rich Brooks of GT Guy fame is in Detroit, Kendall Pond from Cooltec in California, Rich Robach in Arizona. They can all be reached through this Forum.

Where are you at in Illinois? I am down south across from St Louis. We have a few Midwestern owners from around Kansas City and Indianapolis. What do want in a used car? The more you specify the better off you are.

Posted somewhere on this Forum is an inspection sheet to help newbies examine a possible candidate. I'm not at home right now but I am sure someone else can pull it up and post here.

Here's a list of PPI sources, albeit from 2020: https://www.fordgtforum.com/forums/threads/list-of-ppi-pre-purchase-inspection-sources.37374/

... so it may have changed, but with only 6 listed I think it might still be good.

Anyway, good luck on your search! (y) If you're determined and persistent, I'm confident you'll find a suitable example, and shouldn't take all that long.

A lot of people say that the chase/journey to purchase is part of the fun...in the case of the GT, the fun of driving is WORTH IT! (47,000 miles and counting)

@fjpikul: I’m in Peoria, so St Louis is not far at all. I just got a back surgery, that went well, and my 60 bd is next August. So I decided while the outcome was positive to gift my self a very special one. I have hesitated for the last 10 years, so I think im ready

There used to be 3 GTs in Peoria, but the owners sold them many years ago. None there now that I know of. I used to be in Peoria every other week on business but don't come up there any more. Quad cities has at least one GT. Chicago 5 or 6. St Louis 5 or 6. There is a new GT service center in El Paso, IL (on I-39 near Bloomington).

Yes the Ford dealer in El Paso services 05-06 GTs. I am a semi-retired physician but don't cover anything in Peoria anymore.
