I am 6' and fit with a helmet on (more than 2" additional). I believe at 6'4" you either add a Gurney Bubble or modify the seat.

Thanks for the info -- and legroom is sufficient or is it crammed like the Viper?
I found one that's been on Fleabay for a while asking 169k.

Is that in the right price range for this car, assuming it's mint?

I think it is priced like a Blue or black car would be priced.

IMO, 1100 or 4000 miles is really about equal as far as low mileage goes. Color on the other hand is a big variable.

Leg room is good BTW. :thumbsup

I think Shelby stated the colors in highest value to lowest a while back but I can't find the thread. Here is what I remember

Heritage
Black no stripe
Black
Blue
silver
Tungsten
yellow
white
Red

Only saying you may want to be clear on how a certain color affects value. It may be more important than mileage

Pricing considerations:
1. Color
2. Mods
3. Mileage
4. Private seller vs Dealer = Sales Tax
5. Logistics - transportation
6. History and documentation
7. PPI, Carfax

GT's that are priced sub $150K, are generally completely stock, and NOT black or the heritage gulf and have 12K + miles.

RE: Mileage

I wouldn't buy a car that does not average 1000 to 1500 miles per year. Anything less, I would be leery and question the internal health of the awesome 5.4L GT engine. These Ford GT engines were designed to run, not sit in a garage and rot.

I am 6'5". I have lots of leg room, more than my Landcruiser. My hair (not head) brushed the headliner in a standard seat. I had my seat lowered 2" and it allows a helmet.

I struggle with the weight some place on color and the build number of each being used almost solely to determine future worth. In full disclosure I do have a no stripe red car. I have been to numerous car shows and meets and as someone who likes all colors, I am always surprised how many people come up and say how much more they love the GT without the stripes. I understand the arguments that have been put forth by many regarding the number of each color built and the rarity of some colors but in the long term, I do not believe that is going to be the major factor in how the car holds it's value. Ford didn't make any pea green or doo doo brown GTs. I'm sure when they were all new sitting on the showroom floors, no stripe blacks commanded more money as they were harder to find. I think as time passes you're going to find pristine examples of any color are going to retain their value better than beat on examples of the fewer made colors. I didn't buy a GT as an investment nor do I think in 20 years I'm going to sell it for a million dollars. I doubt anyone with any color will be doing that. I do think that every color the GTs were made in have their own unique pop and that if you roll a clean example of any color(except pea green) up on the block 20 years from now, it is going to fetch more than just about any other car of it's era. Buy the color you like but I would not expect the premium you will pay today for some colors(Heritage excluded) to be a guarantee of future value.

I am 6'0" and had my seat lowered. I have a long torso and short legs, so I still have to "crouch down" a bit when I wear a helmet. Every day driving is great though!

Build numbers do not determine the value in order of color, although the fact that SO MANY were made in red, the simple laws of supply and demand kick in. With 1/3rd of the total production being Red, there is a lot of competition in the market place on that color. BUT, when it comes down to numbers of production, the most rare colors are NOT the most valuable. Silver and Yellow cars are the rarest Ford GTs ever made, but only fall in the middle of the price scale. Believe it or not, there were more black cars made than several of the colors that fall below it in price range, BUT black is a very desired color in all cars. I deal in every type of exotic car you can think of, and 8 times out of 10, Black / Black brings the most money.
Yellow, being the lowest produced color in the GTs, falls in the middle as its a LOVE IT or HATE IT COLOR. Its also a car I think you have to see in person to really appreciate. I could go on and on about colors on GTs and why this color brings more than this other color, but its been discussed all over the board. Simple fact is, the below chart is the order of colors in order of MOST EXPENSIVE to LEAST EXPENSIVE based off of almost 5 years of very large FORD GT sales.

Heritage
Black no stripe
Black
Blue
Tungsten
Silver
Yellow
white
Red

Shelby, I notice you differentiate between black stripe vs black no stripe but do that for no other color. Does it have no bearing on any of the other colors? Given stripes were an option, how will it factor into pricing for all no stripe colors as time goes by?

The reason I single it out on that color, is because I get a LOT of requests for black with NO STRIPES. I dont get many requests for other colors with no stripes. Some colors, I would even say it HURTS them not to have the stripe. Black, from my experience, is the only color I actually get MORE money on when it does not have stripes.

I think blue no stripers are pretty hot cars as well, as quite nice and not too common.

I agree with Luke.

Ford made more Red FGTs for a reason... based on market research that indicated it was the most desired color. Ford doesn't do anything without research and thinking it through.

The way things turned out Red is not the most desireable from a "value" standpoint because they made the most of them. Sometimes things turn out different then expected.

I don't think the value differential is all that much between most colors from what I've seen except for the Heritages which can be up over $200K.

I love the FGT in every color. In fact if I were in a position now to spend another six figures on a car (read now paying for college) I would buy a second FGT but this time in yellow with black stripes. Its on my list of "to do's" though. My wife actually wants her own FGT!!! She absolutely loves the car.

Point is, Luke is right I believe. In the future it will come down to condition and mods that make the biggest difference in price. While I love all FGTs in all the colors, I think Red is the hottest. The Red blew me away when I saw it. I could have bought any color but bought what I liked the best. Thats what a buying decision should be based on. Buy what you love, not because you think it may be worth a little more in years to come. No one knows the future.

In fact, an argument could be made that Red is the best buy right now and has the most upside potential if in future years color become less of a factor and the important factor is condition and perhaps nature of mods. Thats the flip side to Red.

I couldn't agree with you more...Besides, nothing looks better in pictures/videos than Red.

Would not argue about upside on a purchase or what future values will be. I can tell you, buying my first GT this year is that certain colors command more money and sell faster......as of now....

Lucky for me, I like all but 2 colors so my next car can be White which is a bit more cost friendly than the blue car I bought this year.

My original advice was to not pay premium color price on a color not demanding it at this juncture.

Obviously by people who don't do their own detailing :) I love black but sheesh as someone who suffers from the spotless OCD affliction, I would go bonkers owning a black car. No thank you lol!

I've got a black Continuation series aluminum bodied Shelby 427 Cobra. Raven black. Single stage. It is gorgeous when its perfect. No other color personifies the personality of a 427 Cobra better. Just sinister. But black is sinister in return in maintaining it perfect. It can drive you to drink.

2112: Exactly my point. Buy what you love and gets your "motor running". Don't speculate on color. They are all gorgeous.

Is that made by Kirkham and sold by Shelby?

Luke has seen my black Shelby GT convertible. I love black. But if my black SGT is a full time job, the care and feeding of a black FGT would either be a career or a wife :)

Black paint is beautiful when it's clean but it is only clean for as long as it takes to go around with the duster and then you get to start over again.

I just had the SGT detailed and boy does it look nice now.

My FGT will be a lighter color. I love the Tungsten and think it is a nice compromise. Second is blue, then white and red.
