Excuse me if I am a little dumb on this one, but is the only thing that is being replaced the muffler with the twin "u" curves and new tips?
Doesn't that basically then make a straight through exhaust? Wouldn't that be too loud for street legal?
Also, if just that little section as shown in the pictures, doesn't $3,500.00 seem a little steep, or is there more to it that I am not seeing?

AZGT- That was the same point I made in the above post. If it doesn't replace the cats and is merely some polished/chromed mandrel bent pipes, someone could duplicate that for around $500. If it includes high flow cats, and nice tips, then $1500 sounds more reasonable.

Just got off the phone with Bob at Performance Power about his new exhaust system. Here is what I found out.
1. Emissions...they do not replace the cats. The new pipes are baffled to keep the sound down. It should have no effect on the emissions testing.
2. Sound...Bob says it is consistent with the stock muffler at idle and louder when you run it up. He says it is not loud while cruising, only when you are on it.
3. Warranty....He does not know if it will impact warranty or not.
4. Availability....Bob anticipates that Ford will list the product with their other performance parts and drop ship from his facility.
5. Currently a three week wait as of today based on current orders.
6. Bob reduces the price by 10% if you have it drop shipped and installed by someone else. That puts the price at $ 2965 if he does not do the install.
He feels it would take less than 4 hours to do the install.
7. Temps...Bob said the first GT they did only had 350 miles on it and the engine operating temps went down by about 15 degrees across all
operating scenerios. He also indicated that when you sit in traffic and the temps go up that they will drop much faster with his exhaust system due to the increased airflow once you start moving.
Hope that helps...if anyone gets this system I would really appreciate your thoughts.

Nice work! I also contacted Bob Ida and indeed, he's a very nice and competent person. I wanted to add some additional data based on my questions in my earlier post.
1. At full throttle (open loop) the A/F ratio ends up at about 10.7:1. He suggested that many of the GT's approach 10:1 which is way too rich, however this is Ford's method of keeping things on the safe side.
2. The air intake temperature is about 10 degrees C cooler while cruising! I feel that this is an excellent percentage improvement!
I like the system because it's so clean and simple looking. The weight reduction is also very nice, since this weight is so far rear of car.

At that price I will hold off because I am sure someone will get their hands on one, recreate it in Titanium (even lighter), offer it in a polish finish and sell it for about $1500 since the cost is probably less than $500 and still make a quite a profit. Unless I am missing something it simply replaces the mufflers, using the stock cats and the stock tips. Wouldn't this only be about 4-6ft of mandrel bent tubing in total with a couple brackets and some flanges?
I must be missing something else? Maybe it is the baffling in the pipes, but, heck I would forgoe this if it saved my $2000, and I am not sure if even baffling would increase the price this much.
Anyone else have other ideas???

Their system completly eliminates the box. The muffler effect is done through baffles inside the exhaust pipes.

+60 Hp @ 5,700 RPM
It seems to have a nice 60 HP boost at 5,700 RPM! You have got to be able to feel that. Just a bit pricey though. Jay

I agree with lthlvpr.
A good custom exhaust or muffler shop should be able to bend some 3 inch pipe, weld on some flanges and some chrome tips for a LOT less than $3000.
Indeed, if one were so inclined, said muffler shop could cut the stock flanges off and, using sizing adapters and clamps, reorient them approximately 90 degrees so the new custom exhaust pipes could exit the rear more gracefully (i.e., straighter exit by eliminatinmg that large curve in the pipe shown on Mr. Ida's site).

DO YOU HAVE A MORE SPECIFIC DATE? I THOUGHT IDA WAS ALLREADY SELLING THE SYSTEM? BE SURE TO LET ME KNOW WHEN IT IS AVAIL. I WILL BE #3. HAVE YOU DONE ANY OTHER MOD FOR PERFORMANCE?

Bob's new exhaust weighs just 10 pounds including brackets. The stock muffler with brackets weighs 60.5 pounds. It is an exhaust system not a muffler and keeps the cats. Polished stainless, 3" with these additional specs:
10 to 20+ hp over stock
coolant temp decrease of 20 degrees
polished brackets
vintage GT40 sound
This new exhaust was done to reduce operating temps for those who use their cars normally as well as tracking their cars. Mine will be the second car done after the prototype.
