Nissan does the same in my 400Z, selling car. They still are taking data even though they say they are not... I get random emails stating this.. I will nevr buy another Nissan. Love the Darkhorse I am driving, just need to Whipple it this winter..
And the Darkhorse won’t do this?

Both my 2019 F150 and 2024 5.0 have the telematics modem fuse removed. You won’t be able to use Ford App to start your car etc, but it will not snitch on you.
How do we do this on our Bronco?

I am hoping someone develops a way to defeat this uploading of data.
You could create a faraday cage by wrapping the entire car in aluminum foil before each drive.

I do not have a Bronco, but fuse(20) in the BCM fuse panel, is the one discussed. This is a three prong fuse(my 19 and 24 used them as well) where it is actually two circuits. You can use a regular two prong fuse to retain the other circuit you need, and keep the three prong as a spare, if you ever need to reconnect. Some discussion of just disconnecting the TCU behind the glove box, for the Broncos. I tried to disconnect the TCU on my 24 5.0, but broke lots of stuff, so the fuse was a better option. Not sure on all the Bronco details, but probably other info out there.

😁

I wanted to do that around my office space’s bathroom to eliminate employees hiding in there to be on their phones but found out that it’s illegal in Washington state to do so.

On my 24 Mustang we removed fuse 8 in the BCM panel. Note, the fuse is a three prong fuse with two circuits(8/9), so you need to use a two prong fuse for other circuit(9). Did this several months ago without any apparent issues.

More and more modern vehicles accurately display the current road's speed limit on your dash, and subtracting the car's speed from the speed limit is of course lightning fast and sending all negative numbers over the internet is getting easier and easier ... in other words, we're prob fighting a losing battle. But that doesn't mean we should give in! ...

"In three years, Cyberdyne will become the largest supplier of military computer systems. All stealth bombers are upgraded with Cyberdyne computers, becoming fully unmanned. Afterwards, they fly with a perfect operational record. The Skynet Funding Bill is passed. The system goes online August 4th, 1997. Human decisions are removed from strategic defense. Skynet begins to learn at a geometric rate. It becomes self-aware at 2:14 a.m. Eastern time, August 29th. In a panic, they try to pull the plug." -Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator 2: Judgment Day

um. Unfortunately, this is where we are headed and I am surprised how many are gleeful over the prospect.

I have found that it is fuse #20 in Broncos.

more in a bit

Edit; I still haven’t found where #20 is, or what it is supporting beside the uploading of data.

Previously, i mentioned that I turned off data sharing on my Ford App, but had to renew that every time I restart the Trucklet.

Maybe this is what Pete meant. But I did learn that I could turn off data sharing in the settings of the Bronco itself. I will have to check with Lexisnexis in a month or so to see if it is effective.

Mike, yes, there is a menu like that in my 2021 F150 and I turned off most of it. I think I left the Nav stuff on, although I should probably shut that down too, because I use my iPhone for navigation, which is better than the OE system, and it's one less app I have to learn to use.

I don't recall an option for "Insurance related data." I better check that. That might have been added on vehicles newer than mine.

However, if there is a fuse for the transmitter, that would be even better, because then a reset to factory defaults won't accidentally or intentionally reenable data sharing.

I love my 1960s cars. They don't ask, don't tell.
