I do believe all cars parked on public streets MUST have valid registration, or they can be ticketed.

I like some of of his Mopar collection, but not the Pinto. It can't be too negative for the local property value, I don't see any BMWs parked in the street.

My so called "neighbors" got all bent out of shape when I proposed building a rather large (for this area anyway) detached garage behind my place TO HOUSE my cars. So, it seems no matter what a person does in this regard, there will always be somebody bellyaching about it.

When I submitted plans for a 3000 sq. ft. garage, the regional planning guys said absolutely not. So I called in a meeting and I sat with the governing body and they gave me the stipulations which were; Garages above a certain height and size are not allowed unless they were attached for neighborly concerns etc. I took the duplicate plans and in front of them I drew two lines creating a car port and labeling such construction as Attached Garage. The supervisor laughed and asked his guys if they had any further questions? My plans were approved right then and there.

Well, up here the "planning guys" are just one hurdle. One has to GET HIS NEIGHBOR'S PERMISSION AS WELL to build anything over the "allowed" size ('have to apply for a "variance"). One has to send a notice to everybody within a set distance of his house, blah, blah, blah. THEN there's a variance committee "public meeting" of sorts wherein anyone objecting to the project can gripe about it. 'Too many people GRIPE about the size, or whatever (and in my case they DID), and you 'no can build'. (I remember one busy body complaining that my proposed garage would be bigger than his HOUSE. Well? SO WHAT?)

Can you just imagine Jim Bowie, or Dan'l Boone, or any one of the other pioneers being told "back in the day" that THEY couldn't build this or that structure whatever size they wanted ON THEIR OWN PROPERTY?!

Don't get me started...

.

I never thought California could be better than us in the department of regulations.

It took me 7 years and $10K of permitting fees and reports to get a permit to build a dock. And I had to get the signed releases of all my neighbors, which was not easy. One stipulation was that I had to offer to share the dock with any neighbor I needed to get a release from.

Yes, but at least you never actually moved your cars. Neighbourly of you. :)
