My Speedo broke just before the Mojave Mile!

I always used a Battery Tender and the battery was never other than at full charge, but my speedo still died about a week ago just before the Mojave mile. A full set of Speedhut gauges doesn't cost much more than one stinking OEM speedo that will probably crap out again, or another gauge at some point. Called the good folks at Speedhut they put together a custom package with wideband A/F and a Vac to 30 PSI boost gauge and rush the order out to me. They delivered, 2 days before promised!

If the installation goes as smoothly as the purchase I will be one happy owner.

IMO if anyone loses a gauge or wants to save a complete working set of OEM gauges, Speedhut is the way to go!

All bullroar in the buckwheat, that Speedhut setup is darn nice looking. As some here have suggested, GT owners ought to seriously consider replacing their stock gauges with the Speedhuts NOW b4 their stockers puke and keep the stockers in bubble wrap - at least until someone figures out what the pblm is with THOSE.

They did up some trick yellow gauges to match his yellow GT. Looked AWESOME!

I'll let you know after I complete the process. My install is a little more involved since I have a a/f meter and boost gauge.

Only a few hundred much than just an OEM speedo!

I just spoke with Speedhut and I may be able to come up with a nifty engine safety feature.

The a/f gauge has a programmable alarm LED I think I can get it tied into the boost gauge so that it will light up whenever the a/f is too low or hi but only while under boost. The logic line is typically connected to the TPS but I don't want to have to run yet another wire from the engine to the dash so am planning on using the boost signal.

Those look great and im glad there is at least one option for us when the time comes. I dont want to give up my carbon Fiber housing and large diameter speedo but it dosent seam like there is any other choice.

Speedo and tach are a little smaller than OEM, the others are the same size but IMO don't match the OEM gauges so I would change them all or stick to the flaky OEM ones.

The boost gauge require a new sending unit and requires running a cable from the engine compartment to the dash. The a/f gauge does as well but I already ran that wire to Freeflyer's setup.

It can handle that but you need to install the sensor and run a wire to the gauge.

The OEM gauge can also be made to work with a tune that doesn't scale the MAF, injector size and engine displacement as suggested by SCT and Diablo but instead just remaps the MAF table to take into account the Mafia setting. Almost everyone does what is suggested. I went a different direction.

Note that with a pulley and tune the OEM gauge will work but be pinned at 15 PSI.

My car isn't anywhere near a standard TT, let alone your monster. I don't expect I will get much more speed going from 1.3 to the 1.7 mile couse. Less than 5 mph.

Ray, your car can really take advantage of the longer distance I will set another speed record for the faster FGT in the world that will be even harder for anyone to top. I think you already hold that record, but it will move the bar even higher.

So - I guess the 30 PSI gauge can't read the OE data on the bus...and that's why we need to install a new run to the engine with a new sensor? I ask because I'm installing the Whipple 4.0L with the 4" pulley to get 19 PSI...which I know will pin the OEM bost gauge. At the price for the whole cluster, it makes sense to pack the OE dash up in a box and I'd also order the gauge you got. Who supplies that sensor, if I may ask?

Ever since my speedometer stopped working last year I've been going back and forth between replacing it with an OEM Ford gauge or ordering a complete set of Speedhut gauges. I would really like to replace my broken speedometer with an OEM Ford gauge, but I'm just not convinced that OEM Ford speedometer #2 wouldn't spontaneously stop working like OEM Ford speedometer #1.

Please post pics of the Speedhut gauges once they're installed. I need to get it fixed because I'm not a fan of driving the car with partial instruments.
