Okay so I've been driving Ford F250 / F350 Super Duty truck for 25 plus years as my work truck / daily driver and with the Lariat & FX4 package they are pretty dang nice trucks. A few weeks ago I decided I needed a new one and located a nice Silver one to match my GT and trailer. So I get to dealership and parked out front is a brand new Raptor so I had the guy work me up a price on both the F250 nd the Raptor.
I came home with the Raptor and damn what a fine truck it is - I think I'm really going to enjoy it.

Well done Steve, I too have been driving a F350 and have been wondering if I could make the switch to a Raptor. I would like to get your take on how it compares when you have had a chance to get some seat time. I know they are different trucks but the Raptor may be the perfect blend of performance and a capable pickup?

Hey Steve,

You need to bring it over to my workshop so I can do a closer inspection!! Looks like a great truck. What's the towing capacity?

It's a great truck for sure. I painted my fenders to match the body and it certainly cleans up the look a bit.

Getting the itch to trade in my 13 Raptor on a new one. BUT, at 70K miles I still love this truck. I have a very hard time thinking a new one would be 40K dollars better after trade in. And I have never before been logical. Old age is getting to me dang it. STOP BEING LOGICAL......

Love my Raptor. It will go anywhere you're bold enough to drive it. Add a winch for sure.

Hey Steve,

Great question. Are these set up (now) to tow a trailer with a race car?
Like 3000 lb car and 4000 lb trailer and 1000 lb of junk?

The "old" one can haul 9000lbs. Ours has logged over 7k miles towing so far. I was under the impression that the 17+ was going to have similar capability.

Mine will haul about 4000lbs. but I have deliver springs witch give a soft ride but squat down easily.

Thugboat - My '13 Raptor has 32K miles and I was more than willing to trade it asap and pay the $25-30k difference. Until a friend brought over a blue '17 a month ago. Everything about it was superior to our model aside from the sound of the V6 and of course the towing capacity. I got into the truck and drove it 10 miles and felt embarrassed at the "rental car" sound of the truck. I imagine you overlook it eventually but since that drive I haven't had the itch once for a '17.

From what I've read is that both the new and old have the same tow ratings. 6k for scab and 8k for screw. They can each tow more as you know, however Ford does not recommend higher tow ratings based on their off road designed racing shocks.
