Not to my knowledge. Thought at the time was that fuel collected in the exhaust system during the off period (since it runs rich), and when he hit the red "on" button (while still moving), it ignited. Who knows, maybe a leaky fuel rail at the same time. There was damage, but not all that extensive. My point is, if the car shuts off while you're moving, don't hit the on button unless you're covered by Safecraft.

similar case

something similar happened to me. i blew out a cat (only learned this later) and the engine shut off. it wouldn't turn back on for 30s or so. i wasn't watching the temps, and i don't know the order of events -- maybe the engine shut off for some reason and somehow caused cat damage. after restarting the car i heard the rattle in the muffler.

Yeah, I've been giving Hoosiers a real consideration also.
C'mon Doc, you know I don't like tequila!

I think it was Craig who bumped his key off, turned it back on, and caught the engine bay on fire? Better make sure about this.

Good memory! Actually it was the rear bumper that caught on fire. Remember the hot dog? The fob could hang from the key in such a way that it acted like a lever and only took a slight bump of my knee to turn the key to the ACC position shutting down the engine. The additional symptom of this is that the gauges all go dead. I also have to move the seat forward and recline it for the helmet to fit. I didn't press the start button but reached down and turned the key back on while the car was coasting down in gear. That was a mistake. I when I track the car I remove the key fob and only use a bare key.
I was also at Willow Springs last weekend in the white Panoz.
