Andy and Margaret,

Thank you telling us Andy's dad's story. And what a story! His life is what they make great movies about!

I'm sorry to hear about your dad's passing. I know it's difficult and not the same, but perhaps it's comforting to feel that as long as he's in your thoughts, he's still with you.

Andy & Margaret -

A man is remembered for the the significant actions he performs during his life - from the brief narrative you've given us of your father's life, it is imperative that we never forget him and his compatriots for the actions they performed in the service of our country to allow us to live these last 70 years in relative peace and freedom. And, following the great war against atrocities and evil, he continued to serve his country, community and family. Might I also say that you are a tribute and testament to his lasting memory, in your actions and attitudes.

Please gather all of the moments of memories of your father and write them up for Megan and Ryan to be able to pass on to your future generations. The deeds of the "Greatest Generation" must be preserved, and your father's is a great epitaph. He lived a long and serving life - God bless him and may he rest in peace with his fellow servicemen.

Great American's never die, they multiply. You are his legacy now, I am sure he is smiling on you now. Thank you for letting us know. You and your family will be in our prayers.

Thanks to all of you for the nice replies and comments. Just another shining example of why this forum.. whether we are debating tire brands , vehicle colors, stripes or thermodynamics.... is like 'family" .

Surely my dad and other dads and family members we have lost recently are reading these posts from the 'great race track in the sky",

Take care everyone.
