Mufflers

Current setup is AF X-Pipe. I don't have emission testing so I'd like a bolt on cat replacement muffler/baffle. Does anyone make such a thing? Not sure I want to run a straight thru setup. I don't mind loud but I'd like to knock the edge off a straight through system while maintaining good flow. Thx

Check out Shadowman's Flowmaster setup. It bolts up to the stock exhaust manifold (so the cat's are removed). You can get it with or without the headers.

Thank you brother Fubar. I'm on my IPhone and can't read the entire thread. Do I understand correctly that Shadow has a Flowmaster setup that bolts into the stock cat setup and will connect my stock manifolds to the X-Pipe? If so that's what I'm after. I'd run headers but not sure I want the leakage headache... Your thoughts?

Cat Delete

Stillen makes a "Cat Delete" replacement pipe (with a "muffler-like" resonator) for the stock system, that will bolt up to the stock or aftermart mufflers/exhaust systems.:thumbsup

Not looking for cat delete pipes, too loud. I want cat delete with mufflers in place of cats. Stock bolt on configuration please.

You're describing Shadowman's Flowmaster setup.

An alternative is the Ford Racing CAT Delete pipes which replaces the CAT on eash side with a "muffler-like" resonator. This is what I have on my car - all of which I had ceramic coated. Not too loud.

That's not what people tell me!

I have the same FRPP cat deletes into a Accufab. Into a stock muffler, or FRPP/Borla muffler it wouldn't be loud at all.

I take it you mean the FRPP rear exit headers. Those are the loudest exhaust system I ever heard on a FGT! It just screams when at higher RPM and WOT. My cat deletes into an Accufab is mild in comparison.

I think John at Muscle Motors (one of our Forum sponsors) still had some cat delete pipes. Check his website. Look for some of his old posts with bumps.

Good one lol but now I am a bit confused. If your cat delete baffle into an x pipe is mild compared to the straight header setup then that sounds about where I want to be.... very loud but not piercing ear drum shattering loud.

The Ford Racing cat delete system just replaces the cat with a small resonator. The pipe starts and ends in the same manner as the cat pipe. It is a simple way to add a little volume and change the pitch of the exhaust note. Here is a picture of the Ford Racing cat delete pipe with my custom shortie headers and the Borla muffler (all ceramic coated black):

Shadowman's Flowmaster system connects to the stock manifold (just like the cat pipe) but it does not turn up and terminate like the stock cat pipe. The Flowmaster system has a muffler canister on each side that runs directly out the rear of the car. It is significantly louder than a stock system but just moderately louder than an x-pipe setup. Also note that the Flowmaster system keeps weight low on the car and it keeps heat away from the clamshell. Here is a link of Shadowman's systems:

I have a Ford Racing cat delete pipe that I can sell. It is ceramic coated (black). PM if you want to discuss it.

I can assure you that with Shadowmans system There is no "leakage headach" as you say.

They are " FIRST CLASS " all the way!!!! They are easy to install, light, and look as if OEM. You wouldn't be disapointed. :cheers

That's what I'm trying to describe. I had the Ford Racing Rear Exit Headers for more than a year and that system is crazy LOUD. The CAT Delete pipes (with resonator) is nowhere near as loud.

NO.......

what i am talking about are the straight headers only. these headers allow you to still use the rectangular borla muffler. these "are not" the headers with the cone shaped borla mufflers attatched to them. i am not sure if cats will fit with these headers or not but the ford racing website used to have two different types of header systems. one was "without" the cone shaped borla mufflers and one was with them......
