I love how people have to throw other cars into the equation when it was a simple question of one or the other.

You could sadly exchange the word most for some in that statement as well.

When I was asked to justify purchasing a GT over a 430, my answer was clear and concise - When I decided to get a second Exotic, I picked up another GT. No Ferrari owner, No Lambo owner that I know would own 2 F430s or 2 Gallardos.

A GTR, or a Z06 (or a ZR1 for that matter) are imitation Rolexes at the end of the day.

I'm impressed that our FGT soundly trounced the '09 430 in this informal poll. :banana

If I were to own another exotic it would more likely be a F430 than a 2nd FGT.

But no BMWs! Not even a M1 or Z8!

I don't consider the Z8 as an exotic, I consider it jewelery and I like it.
The M1 is a piece of history, no more no less.

The GT is the one.

Just sitting still it looks so much better than anything else.

It wins hands down without ever starting.

I was the proto-typical new exotic buyer in 2006; $175K in hand and ready to buy. I wanted a true-mid engine exotic that I could own forever. My two other sports cars I had owned for 13 and 15 years, and I was under 40.

I looked very hard at NEW base/no option F430 and Gallarado that had MSRP under $180K. Both had fine points from obvious F racing heritage, to Lambo glamour/Audi engineering.

Yet they both had some obvious flaws that an exotic buyer cant ignore:

-F car "not gorgeous"; engine bay seemed tight & orderly..v. GT Le Mans Clamshell powerplant
-F car front/rear fussy: always changing 360 to enzo-lens to scud splitter v. classic GT
-Lambo scale seemed off; too snub nosed; sterile interior; hated 'baby-lambo' moniker
-Lambo styling too angular; front/rear fascia now dated by updates
-Maintenance woes: dreaded F car dealer service; [belts every 3yrs?;does 430 need]

One trip on a Friday night to the FORD Manhattan showroom ended this internal drivel.

As I turned the corner, I saw a GULF and was frozen in tracks. The raw charismatic presence of the GT is uncanny. The salesman even started in the showroom so I could hear how loud it was in cabin.

Its funny, I am sure Cobra owners got same rap in 60s vs. buying XKEs, SLs, Vettes etc. Well thats not the case anymore.

I would take the F 430, I would not even look at the Ford sure it has a great engine and it looks good but the Ferrari is just awesome, and it a Ferrari. And the GT had a recall with its front control arm, and as I remember Jeremy Clarkson sold his because it kept on braking down and he had two of them because the first one broke down so many times, and here is a link to Jeremy talking about it on Top Gear, and there is a few more times when they discuss it but its not in this video

WoW just WoW!

How could you say you wouldn't even look at the car?

Jeremy Clarkson sure did have a bug up his butt about owning a Ford GT.
