Going through the list of mods I see there are a few guys with Moton shocks. Can someone post some pictures of this set up? How about some driving impressions, required service or rebuild issues. I did a search but there was little info available...:confused

DriveBy in Chicago has them. Send him a PM.

Moton....

We have installed the Moton shocks on a couple local GT customers. We will tell them to chime in on your post.

We are currently installing Penske triple adjustables on another local customers GT. They seem to work best with a Hypercoil 300lb rear spring and a Hypercoil 225lb front spring.

I got hold of one of five or seven sets of Motons made and they are very adjustable. I have only had 3000 miles on them and so far no service issues. I'm very satisfy with them but however it is a pain to adjust the rebound settings.

Finally got around to take a few pictures of the shocks.

How do you like them, would you buy them again? Why did you not go with the Penskes?
I am running the Penske's with Alex's install kit and can report that it was a great move for me.

I don't know if this helps, but there is a lot of information about Motons on the Viper Club of America forum. Motons have been a very popular and successful mod on all generations of Viper.

Bony,
Because of the girl jumping ropes beneath your post, I didn't really read what you wrote carefully but I think you asked something about the Motons, well I got them before the Penskes were available and I got a really good deal on these and it was the last set available from a limited production run. So far I have had no problems with them at all, the shocks are very adjustable with 12 clicks of compression and rebound adjustments and unlike the Ohlins I have on another car, I can actually feel the difference of each click. It's been a year since I have them on the car now, and as I remember it, the ride is definitely better than stock, and body lean is much less than before. I'm still working on dialing the understeer but I think I've got most of it dialed out, just waiting for wider front tires to finish the setup, or with wider fronts, I may be able to stiffen up the front shocks and sharpen up the turn-in a bit more.
BTW, how about some volleyball pics next time? Or Jumping Jack?

Moton vs Penske

I like the T&A mounting of the remote reservior for the front shocks. They mount on the metal panel in front of the windshield wipers. There is room for the lid to close. If they were mounted in the front tray (trunk) then it would be difficult to remove the tray (I remove it every time I clean the GT or when I drive on the track).

Are the Motons double or triple adjustable? It's kind of fun having both high & low speed adjusters for the compression. Where did you know where to start at on the adjustments? Did you run the shocks on a shock dyno first? Alex at T&A can get the adjustments & alignment specs very very close, if not perfect, from the info the GT owner can give him. There are 3 different spring rates available. I'm very pleased with the T&A Penskes.

Ed

PS There is a lot of info on previous posts on GT shocks & the T&A Penskes.

For what it is worth; I just completed an installation of a set of the Penske's as prepared by Alex and the installation was smooth and once in place the system looks stunning

Now having shared this I have installed Moton's on numerous European gals and it is a wonderful system with they offer seemingly endless options.

All the best

I've heard that the Penske's require more rebuilding that some of the other high end shocks? I'm just trying to find out if this is true or just here say ??? This site has been such a great tool for good first hand factual info I though I'd check here to get some direct feed back.. Thanks again !! Brian

Stories are like .................... dare I say

Penske presents a quality piece as does Moton as such I would expect that you would be happy with either system.

I would not let future service be a concern; and if it were I would lean towards Penske because parts are available all over where as the Moton's tend to be more difficult and less timely during this process.

Now there you go; yet another story aka opinion

I have used Motons on the street and the track with Vipers. I have had no issues but support for them is limited. If you need more info contact Archer Racing. Good luck, Dan Vargus

I went Penske's, simple logic for me.
Alex aka as TA Shocks did much of the suspension development work for the FGT.
He designed the Penske set up, was supposed to be his exclusive product to sell.
Alex has always helped everyone on this forum with their needs.
First I bought the lowering kit from him, then I bought the same set up Ed is running.
I believe in helping the build team, anyway we can.
What has Motion ever done to support this forum?
Like I said, basic logic for me... your free to do whatever...
Happy New Year!:)
