I don't know if this is the right place or not, but while looking through the posted pic's of this years rally I noticed some interest in Ab Jenkins and the Morman Meteor. In 2007 I had the pleasure of meeting Ab's son (and co-driver) Marvin Jenkins and looking at the Morman Meteor in Marvins basement shop. After years of neglect in the basement of the Utah state capital building Marvin had retrieved the car and brought it home for restoration. It had recently been repainted and they were in the process of fabricating parts to rebuild the engine and finding someone to manufacture appropriate tires. Sadly Marvin Jenkins passed away in 2008, so my son and I literally got a once in a lifetime opportunity. I have 4 or 5 more pic's if anyone would like to see them.

Post the pictures. The story told in the movie was quite touching. In particular how Marvin helped the rebuild team get the final detais down and getting the engine running for the first time. He passed away a few days later.

These along with the previous ones were taken at Marvins house in St. George UT, actually on Dec. 1 2006 not 2007 as I stated above. My memory is not what it used to be.

Having competed in 24 hour races with 3 other drivers, I can not even imagine, 24 hours solo. Truly amazing. The film, was great to be able to see!

Thanks for posting the pics!

What an experience. I'm confused. Is there more than one meteor? I saw the yellow one at Amelia last march. Restored??

Don't forget the mention at the movie premier of Meteor #1 hopefully being retruned to the family for future restoration.

Automodello has come out with a die-cast model of the Mormon Meteor -
