Had a guy ask me just this morning... How expensive was it, divorce or boob job?
All I could say it that the wife hasn't requested either, yet.

I paid cash for my car, which prompted the sales manager at the Ford dealership to say to me, "so, you're a big swinging dick, what do you do for a living? Drug dealer?" Now, I had not said a single word to the sales manager, and the sales rep came from a different dealership in order to do this deal....so, there wan't any interaction and I didn't precipitate any bad blood in the first place.
I was quite offended and normally would have told him to shove it where the sun don't shine...., but since it was EXACTLY the car I wanted, I just said, "yeah, that's it' and walked away. I've never been back other than to pick up the Ford wheel bolt replacements.
So much for Ford creating a 'Halo Car' to generate foot traffic in to the dealerships.

So we're all guilty of having watched Fast n Furious. You can admit it. Anyways.. remember that scene where they pull up next to the ferarri, and ask what the retail is.. guy answers "More than you can afford, pal... ferarri"..
So this guy is next to me at a light.. and ask (word for word) the same question.. i figure he's kidding, throwing the famous line out... so I answer "more than you can afford, pal... ford."
he didnt seem like he got it. i'm guessing he never saw the movie. now i feel like an ahole.. ah well. :lol
..."then I'd owe money - something I have always tried to avoid."
Was at an event and a young lad also asked me how much did it cost - when I told him you get one free if you collect 100 cornflake wrappers he literally asked his mum if they could get some cornflakes......bet his mums life is still hell :lol

I was actually astonished to discover not all FGT owners (nor F-car, or Lambo, etc.) pay cash for their cars - for whatever reason.
In my own case, I'm too darn cheap to pay all that interest...:willy
This tends to be my standard response as well. The reply I settled on was, "Let's just say it cost more than your average Buick."
There are worse things in life than a car payment.I was actually astonished to discover not all FGT owners (nor F-car, or Lambo, etc.) pay cash for their cars - for whatever reason.
While I can appreciate your story, I think it is very much dealership dependent.By no uncertain terms do I intend to imply it's anything other than a jack-off individual. It just so happened to be the Sales Manager which by default is the face of the dealership.

Aren't some things cheaper to rent?Like alimony payments?
No argument there, but... some things are worth the money....paying interest on 'toppa' that, gives someone as cheap as Pockets a terminal case of the gallopin' clangs...
...I have much the same view with regard to making interest payments on credit card balances, which is why I pay those off every month. I know that doesn't thrill my credit card companies, but, they continue to accept my charges anyway....l
