NO!!!!!!!!!!! You're not!

I've actually called hotels (in our area) in advance of our stay to see if ANY OF THEM had any kind of SECURE overnite parking for exotics, etc. 'HAVEN'T FOUND ONE YET that does. Hilton, Westin - you name it.

You'd THINK that kinda thing would be a "given".

Same with any high end restaurant ANYWHERE.

Why this isn't the norm is beyond me...

somebody please come up with a solution to this parking issure, I cant believe that in this day and age we have this problem. it seems to me in a country where service is so eagerly accepted and well paid for, we cant have parking where they would charge you a few bucks and let you park in a space where getting a door ding or your car key'd would not be an issue, I would pay for that spot. The more places that have them the more business they would attract, am I crazy for thinking this?

Doesn't help that there are required parking ratios that property developers must meet. Certain number of spaces required dependent on product type (office, retail, industrial, etc.)

So, net result, is a bunch of tiny parking spaces that people can sometimes not even legitimately use, without accidentally double parking or crowding other spaces.

I agree though, there needs to be a solution. Someone should develop a "sports car" retail and restaurant center where we could all park in peace...

At the Grand Sierra Hotel in Reno (previously the Hilton), the valet guys just tell me to park in front of their office across the covered entry from the main entrance - I just back it up to the curb, lock it, give them the keys and a tip, and they keep an eye on it all day & night. And, of course, they don't let another car park close to it. Cheap insurance.

Maybe we should build a database on "GT Favorable" locations and post it like "good service dealers"?

I always thought of Pocket's garage as the GT equivlent of the Black Flag Roach motel for GTs. GTs are baited in but they don't come out.

Pockets is correct. Parking taking up two spaces asks for trouble. Its happened to me. Parked a brand new M3, literally just driven from the dealer delivery to the mall. Parked it 1000 miles away where no one else was. Came out and it was keyed.:mad

I love my GT but have found that it does attract crowds wherever it is. This makes me nervous with crowds gathered around her. Its like I feel the need to beat back the hoards and rescue the damsel in distress. Ok, a little weird here but the fact is, Pockets is right, you have to worry about those jerks who are jealous and will damage her just for spite.

I have a friend with an 2006 Tungsten (Pockets don't read further without sitting down). He is for lack of a better description a little more laid back with his GT. Its going to turn 30,000 miles any day. He drives it (hard) every day and uses it for every thing short of hauling cement. The nose is all pit marked from track use and he is on his 4th set of tires. He says he is going to consume the car until nothings left which the way he drives could occur any day. When Rich and Dennis (GT Guys) were at my house doing work on my GT my buddy told them that the GT is "just a car" to which Rich looked at me and rolled his eyes. Granted my buddy's attitude is a little harsh for my tastes (Pockets, you may want to take a breather here).

I had my GT at a cruise night a few weeks ago and someone accidently scratched the clear:ack. Fortunately, my paint guy fixed it and its perfect again. :thumbsup. However, I think it will probably be the year 2040 when I take the GT to another show or cruise night.

For me, the GT is like a fine wine. Pockets said it best when he pointed out the GT is to be savored like a fine wine not devoured in 2 minutes like a 7-11 Big Gulp. I'm still trying to figure out how to have my cake and eat it too i.e. preserve the perfect and pristine like new low mileage condition, of my GT and enjoy driving it at the same time. Anyone who has a solution PLEASE PLEASE fill me in.

I only know of one solution, own 2, or more GTs. One to drive the other to preserve.

My meds. WHERE are m-m-my meds...:willy:willy:willy

RE: 'Ice's solution...so...which car becomes the "driver" then...and WHEN? How does one choooooose between the two cars? In other words - which one 'gits' SACRIFICED? :ack How does one ACCEPT the fact that one car has suddenly "become the driver" who's dings and (gasp!) DENTS are to be ignored? (Notice I used the pronoun "WHO'S"! :lol)

'Seems to Paranoid Pockets all 'ICE'S "solution" would do is create twice the problem!:rofl:rofl:rofl

Of course, if one bought a high miler which had already BEEN "initiated" and used THAT as his 2nd GT.........? :shrug

In 1987 the TV show "60 Minutes" did a segment on the Lamborghini Countach (the month mine was built actually). During that segment they interviewed Malcom Forbes who had owned one for some time. He made the observation that this car was so pure of form and purpose that people didn't resent the car as they would Mercedes, Limos, etc. He parked his car on the street in NY City and they taped the crowd and their comments. He was right. The car was so appreciated it was untouched! I would put the FGT in this category of cars. I've had to park in the back lots too. So far people look but don't touch.

Just one more "cent" to make my two "cents". Seems as though if I leave the car a bit dirty....treat it like a car (say a 2005 Taurus) nothing happens. The more I "care" about a car, the more happens to it. I think the "crazies" just love to mess with a car detailed with Cutips and $2000 wax.

I really wouldn't push my luck too much trying to prove that, Jeff. Today is mucho different-o than 1987. W-A-A-A-A-A-Y more "class envy" so to speak. (Really.) Mr. Forbes was pbly just LUCKY with is L-car anyway ... even for back then.

The stuff I've both seen AND experienced myself - especially in the last 10 years - just doesn't support your trust of the general public. "Trust me" on that one. (And I say that even though I live in "SMALL TOWN" America! :frown) :cheers

Well, not really. :frown That idea was origionally put to me by Jeffy (PL510*Jeff) as the solution to MY pblm several months ago! (And now is the "nitty gritty" point of 'ICE's post above as well.)

But, I don't think I could ever treat ANY GT as "just a daily driver". So, it's really not a practical solution for ME - even if I had the garage space.:willy

Yup. I'm a sick-o.

You make some good points. Things do seem different today. I guess I won't offer my FGT for research on this topic just yet......:) :thumbsup

Pockets will burn out two buffers and an extension cord before a car turns 500 miles. Garage space!!!!! you need to open a detail shop for GT's only. :biggrin
