Metal Frame under the back of the passenger seat

I just got my GT and when looking around I noticed this metal frame under the passenger seat. See attached picture which is taken top down behind the passenger seat. Can anyone tell me what it is for?

It's for a child's car seat anchor.

Yes. It is easily removed; if I remember correctly, only two large socket head screws attach it to the bulkhead behind the seats. I took mine off many years ago.

Correct. Take it out and it opens up a lot of behind the seat storage space, unless you have a small child and need a car seat. Look in your owners manual. If you take it out do not lose it. Hard to replace.
