It's gonna be a fantastic car, for sure. that 6.2L V8 engine is a gem.

But for brute force, it's tough to beat their V12 twin turbo cars, especially the uprated version in the CF bodied SL65 Black Series.

Agreed. My wife spent the last several weeks shopping for a new car and we came upon one of these in the showroom. The GM came out from his office once we paused by the Black Series and said that he'd give us a $10k discount. Regret that no amount of discount would've motivated my wife as she said she couldn't be caught in that as a DD.

I have to agree that the doors in this case are a Bricklin level gimmick unlike the originals that were done by necessity. Also note that the doors extend to the rocker panel and have conventional handles. If the car had the original type sills it would be more appealing as I owned a 54' while in grad school. The sills were particually aattractive during the initial miniskirt era, btw.

Kayvan, thanks for the MB link. I have to say, for MB, that is a pretty un- Mercedes site. Almost cute; very un MB in that it's not stuffy or arrogant at all. Furthermore, the more I see of this car, the more I think it is MB's response to the "heritage" design craze (read Ford GT & Mustang, Dodge Challenger, Lambo Muira design excercise, etc). The car looks more throwback than forward thinking, especially in how sharp the lines are. Maybe it will look better in person, although I don't really mind what I've seen lately. It's just not a knockout. Still, for south of $200K, with the power it sports, it ought to be quite a buy.
