Unless there is another silver one owner F1 for sale in the US, this car is currently owned by Herb Chambers (a very large car dealer here in the Boston area, and ironically our NGT dealer). I saw this car last weekend, and there was info that he was selling it after 18 years of ownership. It was also mantioned that it will be going to Bonhams in CA in August (not in the on line catalog yet) It's a bummer for us here, as he has fairly regularly brought the car out for us to enjoy. My favorite car iof all time. Wish we had the resources to own it.

WADR guys, I'd still give my eye teeth for a 66 street GT40 (https://www.mecum.com/lots/CA0816-244573/1966-ford-gt40-mki/, or http://girardo.com/sold/sold-1966-ford-gt40-mk1/, or https://www.hemmings.com/blog/2016/...me-finding-buyers-for-its-gt40-mk-i-road-car/), BUT...
The MAC has 3 seats (one for trophy wife & Jr., or two trophy babes if you're into that kind of thing), real fitted luggage space, and goes 240 miles per hour.:biggrin

Kindly pardon the thread drift.

One of my humble associations with fame was securing the GBP for Jay Leno when he bought his. Saved him some money along the way and his assistant asked if there was anything they could do to thank me. I asked for a ride, and they seemed to be thinking about an easier gift level... Had to ask, right? Wouldn't you?

When my aunt visited from Nashville, I asked if I could see a Tonight Show taping and they gave me Jay's personal seats with a meet and greet and personal photo after the show. He could not have been nicer, and I remain a fan to this day. Love hearing about how Jay still loves his F1, and now how the NFGT is the best car he has ever driven!

Top Speed??

Gentlemen,

Perhaps somebody here can help me understand this. This Mclaren has 20 HP less than the NFGT, the GT almost certainly has better aero (probably a lot better), but the top speed of the Mclaren is 23 MPH faster than the GT. I know the F1 weighs a lot less than the GT but drag goes up to the square of speed and 90+% of total drag is aero at 200+MPH. Even with it's light weight I don't see how 627 HP can get that car to 242 MPH. Has that number ever been independently verified?

Not that it matters. The most impressive acceleration here is in the auction prices of F1's.

Chip you logic is correct so if the numbers are true for the F1 I would have to assume it has lower drag numbers than the NFGT. The NFGT probably balances drag with down force trading off top speed for better handling in the turns. Also what are the frontal areas of the 2 cars? The NFGT is low but very wide.

Here is a fantastic video. I love his comments after basically saying how crazy stupid the run was.

Thanks Andy. That's a GREAT video. Makes me wish I'd bought one when they were new.

Original owner seller too. I wonder what he paid for it, particularly to get it US eligible? Still, he probably netted 15X his $$$:
