Some of the Forum members wanted to know the differences/modifications between MATECH’s current GT3 racer and the newly planned GT1 version of the Ford GT. Here's the info I got from the team.

According to the FIA there will be soon a new regulation for the GT1 class, which will be binding from 2010 on. For 2009 there will be a transition/grace period for GT1 cars which are either falling under the existing or already new regulation. Currently it is unknown which adaptations/changes of the specs FIA will request in their new GT1 regulation. The new regulation will be expected within the next couple of month (end of the year?). So for MATECH it is currently unclear which modifications will have to be implemented under FIA’s new GT1 regulation until it's release (probably e.g. wider body, different aerodynamic design, engine restrictor, power, lowered rear wing etc).

MATECH will definitely release a Ford GT according FIA's GT1 regulation. Based on today’s knowledge it is planned to built up a first GT1 car for some initial races (1-2) in 2009 and to finally go full force with a Ford GT1 series in 2010.

That's all for the moment
