Harry Tincknell:

I was going through Indianapolis and they came back on the radio and said: 'He's just gone out of Arnage...' So I looked ahead and sure enough there he was going into the Porsche Curves.

But he was going mega-fast for someone who had a puncture and I wasn't actually sure if I could catch him or not.

I got him at the exit of the Porsche Curves and up to the Ford Chicane. It was like a bloody movie or something, like a madman had scripted it!

It felt like the whole garage was in the car with me. I could hear them cheering on the radio so loudly. It was mental!

It makes a mockery of spending hundreds of millions in developing top class cars like the Ford and the Ferrari, and completely reinventing the Porsche 911, when
Aston Martin spend not one penny on development, and turn up with an ancient car in racing terms, continue to hide performance as they have done for over a decade, then bitch whinge and moan that BoP is unfair...it beggars belief how they continually get away it.

Having the most modern, hi tech machinery dumbed down to the lowest level of car is plainly wrong. All hail to Aston Martin, true kings of manipulation and laughing at the development money spent by competitors.

That's socialism for you. Lower everyone's standards to the lowest performance person or the least ambitious and innovative. Kill any thought of competition to advance equality at any cost.

Gentlemen,

After an extraordinary 5 days at Le Mans we closed this event out in fine form with a dinner at the restaurant where Edsel hosted us last year. Afterward we walked to Mulligan's Irish Pub to meet up with Dave Pericak and Raj Nair. Dave P. & Raj were holding court and in fine spirits after their teams last second, come from behind pass of the Corvette to secure 2nd place. So it was "The most satisfying second place ever" given the severe handicaps the GT's were saddled with.

Dave and Raj are both hard-core competitors who have absolutely no interest in just participating, they compete to win. It's also clear that this is not just a job for either of them, and they love these cars as much or more than we do.

DBK put together another fantastic event. If you decided not to come, you blew it! But there's always next year. And thank you Ford for your amazing hospitality once again. All the best.

Chip

We had another newbie with this by the name of Jim H.. Jim's trip to LeMans with tainted by the loss of his luggage. But I gotta tell you he put together some pretty good wardrobe ensembles on the fly..

Jim is going to be joining us in the future as a owner of a New 2017 or 2018 GT..... Jim is pictured to the right behind me. Look for him at Future rallies.. this picture of most of the Motley Crue that I was with a good part of the time. Larry, front left is the gentleman that I'd mention in a previous post and Kenneth which most of you know from previous rallies thanks again for all those who spent time with me throughout the various days of fun and excitement..!!

I also had a great time hanging out with these characters. Kevin and Chris. Also known as " Special K " and " Y2K 2XL" can't quite remember his forum name it's some crazy number configuration like that. The future "Austin Power".:biggrin

The second picture is a trivia question. Can you name the gentleman beside me? You Florida West Coast guys should get it. ..

That would be Jim Padillo, former FORD executive during the FGT gestation. He is looking quite trim and healthy after (I think) a knee replacement. We Florida west coasters see Jim at Marty Schorr's bi-weeklyCafe Racer luncheons.

Jim should be well remember by Ford Dealers as he was very well thought of when he worked for Ford Motor Company. Seems as all the retirees move to Florida when they retire and most all play golf together. ha Ha

Bingo... I was Solo in a van coming back from the Mulsanne straight out look post. At the last minute this guy jumps in once underway he introduces himself. His name sounded familiar but I didn't put it together. After talking I knew the rest of the story and he told me he hangs out with all you Florida West coast guys. Very nice gentleman.

Love that the GT was able to pass the Corvette. The Ford Performance youtube channels were excellent

I totally agree Chip. We heard more back office info than any of us expected. I was laughing because it left Stormcat speechless (and we all know how hard that is!!) My favorite part of that evening was seeing those guys, which are normally very reserved, totally let loose. That was the cherry on top of my Le Mans sundae! It doesn't get any better.

Another interesting fun fact from the 1967 race. Not only did we win the race we won the award for thermal efficiency . They had the trophy there unfortunately I lost my picture of it...:confused

Maybe someone else can help...
