2 of 3 GT's that I have worked on - or maybe literally 7 of 10 cars have had "weeping" power steering pumps. There's usually an accumulation of drops at the lower-most fittings. However, the pan usually doesn't show a puddle or anything like that - hence the description "weeping".
I have one such car on the lift right now. I suspect that the power steering pump is not inexpensive and to R&R it looks kind of time consuming as well. I have been consistently reluctant to recommend a Ford Dealership for warranty repairs simply out of concern of the well-being of the overall car. I'm just wondering if anyone knows or has ever heard of Ford picking up the replacement pump cost without having the car on their rack. I'm happy to supply pictures and, of course, the failed part upon replacement. Any ideas/comments other than the obvious, "take it to a dealership"?
