After spending 3 days reading nothing on the forum except this LeMans thread and drooling over all the pictures, I came soooooo close to skipping out of work, getting on a plane, and joining the fun you are all having at LeMans! Something sensible got in the way, like wanting to have a job to come back to... :frown I think my boss is tired of hearing about LeMans and seeing pictures of the car and the team and the track... :biggrin Just imagine what next week will be like if they win!! :banana

GREAT write ups and pictures!!!! I'm enjoying every minute of it and feeling like I'm there. Keep it up and enjoy the race!!!!! GO MATECH!! :thumbsup

Tonight.

Gentlemen,

Team Owner Martin Bartek had dinner with Dave and I tonight and told us the story of Matech GT Racing from the beginning. A great saga that I will write about when I have more time. Thomas will start in the #60 car and Cindy will start in the #61 car. A modified version of the old run across the track and jump in your car (like '69) will be used tomorrow. Fresh engines and transmissions were put into all 3 FGTs today. I can feel it gentlemen, Ford races at Le Mans again at 3pm tomorrow and I believe they will win in GT1.

I can feel it gentlemen, Ford races at Le Mans again at 3pm tomorrow and I believe they will win in GT1.

Mr. Moose has been hitting this thread regularly, but I've stayed away. Like Soroush, I'm dissappointed we aren't there (we were so close to going but just couldn't make it work!) . I'm excited about the race, envious of those who are there, and know in my heart of hearts Matech will have a good showing!

Any of the AZ contingency left in the state that's interested in watching the race live is welcome to come over. I'll cook breakfast :wink

Race Day

Well - this is it. What we have all been waiting for.

I got here early (about 8 am) - leaving the farm at about 6:30, getting on the tramline into the track. The others will be dragging in over the next few hours. Schedule for today is:

9:00 - 9:45: Warm up - fire up the engines, test out the cars.

10:00 - 10:40: Preliminary Race - Porsche Malmut Carrera Cup

11:05 - 11:50: Preliminary Race - Group C Cars

12:10 - 12:30: Demonstration Laps - Le Mans of the Future

12:45 - 13:45: Pitwalk, everyone with a Pitwalk Pass, Cars lined up in old style angle start format

14:22: Beginning of the Starting Procedure - 24 Heures du Mans - they will run across the track, jump in the cars, take off in single file, make one lap around the circuit, then line up on the starting grid.

15:00: Start of the 78th Race of the 24 Heures du Mans

The track is wet - it's been raining all night, with a slight drizzle now that practice has started. A lot of spinouts of some LMP cars so far, and everyone switching from intermediate to full rain tires. It's expected to be raining at the start of the race, but will start clearing as the evening progresses.
