Seems info on this is few and far between... this is the only other thing i came across that had more than a mention of it.

Apparently it's around $1000 shipped to your door if you can find someone that makes it.

This is the cleanest version of this mod I have seen but there are several variants. This one looks easy to install compared to the rest. This unit is designed for the M5 and it's mirror but you could make one for the Ford. It is simply a matter of putting the remote until behind the glass of the mirror. The actually V1 detector is not hidden. To hide the V1 you have to disassemble the radar and put the rear receptor in the tail lights. Then put the front receptor in the front of the car and I', not sure were you would put the laser antenna. All of this has to be connected with a custom wiring harness... have fun with that.

I like a hidden radar but it didn't appear to be worth the effort.

You guys don't like the Passport SRX? You can hide the display and the radar sensor and laser shifters can be mounted so they are almost undetectable. I know the Valentine is a great unit, but for me I just hate having the detector sitting on the windshield.

If I didn't move my V1 around to several cars, I would love this.

I have the SRX mounted in my RENNtech and it performs flawlessly. I have the control unit hidden in my glove box, small detection light installed in the lower corner of my windshield and a mute button mounted in the dash within easy reach of my left hand. No one even knows any of this exists until zapped.

Wanted to install same in the FGT, but couldn't find an installer in time so have the V1.

The mirror set up looks slick but I'd be interested only if it does away with the box on the windshield.

Absolutely go Valentine 1!

I've been an avid user for a decade now and there is nothing better in my opinion. It's saved me thousands of dollars in tickets and probably a night or two in jail.

I usually have mine hardwired into my daily driver and place it up by the mirror. Then I use the standard cigarette lighter plug for my "weekend drivers".

I'll probably hardwire the GT now though? That is, unless we can get a group of us together and find an electrical engineer to build us a bunch of V1 mirrors. Anyone else interested?

That's basically what the BMW community did and now it is available as a replacement mirror for M5's or other BMW's that can switch out with that.

Hey - does anyone know anything about "laser jammers"?

Kirby, do you have one or more of these installed? Your experience please. Any photos? I couldn't determine the appearance of the unit which would be mounted inside the car.

Hopefully, their technology is better than their English.

That's why I like the SRX. It comes with the laser " shifters" as they call them.

Check out the K40 Laser Diffuser. I've personally tested it on a closed course for Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords magazine and it works great. the radar detector could use a bit more range, though.

What I have seen and been told by very reliable sources is the "Blinder" is perhaps the best available full time laser jammer. It has a very loud audible and a small LED visual bulb that can be discretely mounted anywhere. The LED is the only thing in the cabin except for a switch to disengage the jammer after braking to the speed at which you want to have no jamming protection. In other words, it goes off, you make sure you are not above the speed limit and then disengage the jamming so the officer can take another shot at your vehicle to confirm you are not speeding :biggrin. I saw this on one GTX1 that uses the defroster toggle switch for the Blinder since that toggle serves no purpose in the X1. The Blinder would probably be a good addition to someone with a V1 because a hand held laser gun is typically aimed at the license plate or low center on a car's front bumper which is a spot that the windshield mounted Valentine will typically not detect.
I'm told the most comprehensive detection/jamming system and system of choice where the priority is protection vs cost is the Passport SRX + The Blinder. It overlaps laser protection and provides unseen front and rear protection against radar and laser. A local owner who has only the SRX and spends a lot of time driving at speed on the highway has told me he only has to stop for gas. It has saved him many, many unnecessary interruptions by distracting blue lights. The one with the SRX and Blinder
said it's like flying over Bagdad at night, lots of people are shooting, but, mission after mission, he's not getting hit :cheers

Kirby, this is helpful, thanks. My SRX is very effective but am interested in the Blinder. I'd like to install one of them after the Le Mans trip (illegal in Europe and the French have no sense of humor).
