Have you heard an Accufab X-Pipe? I'd like to know how it and yours compares sound wise.

Congrats on the install.

"THUMBS UP"; you and your team did a great job.

It was my pleasure chatting with you and it pleases me that some assistance was afforded you through the process.

Now I have a technical suggestion; I see that you mounted the new assembly to the transaxle bracket as a solid mount (or so it appears) and if this is the case you need to consider creating a thermal expansion system similar to that which I incorparated into the Stainless Works exhaust.

Experience proved that the exhaust on these gals grows when hot as such there will be stress placed at that bracket.

I would say that it would be an easy addition should you feel it necessary

All the best

I have a Whipple and love it, but if you are serious about a TT then skip the Whipple step. I chose the Whipple because it is CARB approved and 50 state smog legal. The TT systems are not.

Its not hard making the TT systems 50 state smog legal. Jason has already done it on a couple of systems he's installed recently.

**** HOLD THE PRESS *****

The TT has "NOT" been CARB approved for California much less 50 states; it has nothing to do with whether certain hardware such as cats, EGR etc are installed.

Could it be; anything is possible however the certification process can be expensive and arduous to migrate through.

Takes care

Ask Jason. I am sure that Jason's system would pass if you use the stock CATs and applied for the test. Given that the number potential buyers are small and the time and money needed to get it CARB approved in CA is very large, most vendors will not go though all the trouble. Passing the sniffer test is the small part. In CA you must have only CARB approved parts on your car if in CARB's opinion those parts may affect emissions. Just be thankful you don't live in CA. CA is one of the most hostile states for automobiles, taxes and guns!

I am just glad that Whipple got their system approved.

it is possible I misunderstood Jason in our conversation about this. I will ask him about it again on Monday when we talk. Will post my findings.

It looks great - congrats!

Is it just the photo or is the diameter of your pipes considerably smaller than most? If so, was there a particular reason you went this route? Just curious.

Was thinking the same thing Aloha. They look really small, but I'm thinking it's the way the picture was taken.

Did you have to take off the clamshell or were you able to remove the old muffler without doing that?

I do not know what method he selected. But I removed my OEM muffler without removing the clam. Shadowman had a post on how to do this. It wasn't easy or hard, just time consuming, as I did it with no lift and simply backing on to a small ramp made of 2x6's. Had I made the ramp 2" higher the effort would have been 30% less. Took me most of an afternoon by myself. The new unit, whatever it will be is far easier to R&R.

No I didnt have to remove the clam. Thats were shadowmans help was instrumental in doing the job faster.:thumbsup It wasnt easy and you risk scratching the car a bit more, but if youre carefull it should be ok i did most of it by myself except the lifting of the big factory muffler. I learned somthing new I had a fox body mustang back in the days and I just about gone through the whole car at one point, what I noticed is that the GT is no ford. Everything goes together a lot easier and nicer than any ford I have ever worked on.

As for the size of the pipes when I saw the heffner unit they look similar in size, Im talking about the actual pipes not the tips. the tips on mine are a bit smaller. they are the same size as the factor tips. No particular reason to do this except i didnt want a huge tip in the back.

I will make a short video with sound and post it once I learn how, so you guys can get a idea of how it sounds. I believe the same set up that I have has gone on at least 5 to 6 other gts. If anyone is interested pm me and I can give you Nicks number and you can talk to him yourself.
