Just curious about the new GT. Sorry if it has been discussed already.

So my dad has been looking into getting the new GT when it comes out next year and I'm a little confused about some things.

1. The process to get one. If memory serves me right the process to get one is much like Ferrari's where Ford chooses you based upon your previous Ford history. I know it helps if you bought an 05-06 GT but he did not. He and my mother have owned nothing but Ford's for the past 20-25 years with the exception of one vehicle, figure about 30ish vehicles total not considering the GT350 I have on order. Would that be enough to be considered for the new GT or would purchasing a 05-06 really be the only way to get a 17+ GT?

2. Does the market for the new GT look to be similar as the 05-06 in that it will continuously appreciate? I've tried to convince him to consider an 05-06 since it hit dealer lots and we are fortunate enough to go to Elite Autos every now and then to look. Also, for those that have an 05-06 what does the future for those look like in about 10 years? Figuring he would purchase a high mileage one instead of a less than 1,000 mile one so he could drive it and not worry so much about value.

3. If there are any members near the western side of Arkansas that wouldn't mind taking he and I for a ride in a 05-06 GT it would be much appreciated. Up until this point we have only been able to look at a GT but I think getting the full experience might help persuade the purchase.

Anyway, thank you for the help in advance and sorry if these are all topics that have been discussed beforehand.

All of this has been discussed at length in the area called "2016+ Ford GT", where you posted this:

To answer your questions:

1. Nothing will be known about anyones chances until the program is announced

2. "Past performance is no guarantee of future value".

But really, go read all the topics in here. There is lots of info.

Ok thanks. Again sorry for the repeat topic but any help is greatly appreciated.

Anyone can apply, and the worst thing that can happen is that you don't get an allocation.

Owning an 05/06 is a substantial benefit. I would not recommend going out and buying an 05/06 hoping it will increase your chances of getting a new car. I would, however, recommend buying an 05/06 because it's a sweet car.

That is what I have been saying for the longest time. I've always said that it is the only car that can be reintroduced unchanged and still look brand new. It is simply perfection. Plus it would look great having a gt350, 05-06 GT, and 2017 GT all matching. Is there an specific form to fill out so he can apply?

Not yet. Shortly.

Thank you!

Talk to Shelby Smith at Elite Autos. Everything I have heard about him says he could help. Without a high pressure sell. The car does tend to sell itself.

I've met with him before and he is a wonderful guy. Smart, no BS, to the point person. Not to mention an inventory that makes me weak at the knees. Hoping to meet next week to discuss both the 05-06 and 17 gt questions further.
