From the looks of this website, he must have gone through that fence and over some bushes or small trees. I'm guessing a "damaged but not badly" is going to equate to several thousands of dollars in aluminum parts and paint.

According to other links in your article, we also lost a yellow/black FGT in Qatar.

Wonder if Janine sat in that thing

What a dumb@$$. 1000hp and barbed wire don't mix.

I guess all the other 500+ people that wrecked a GT, including many members on this board, would be considered a dumbass then. The Ford GT is easy to lose control in stock form, muchless with 1000hp. This does not constitute calling the guy a "DUMBASS". Now, cheating on Sandra on the other hand........ :)

All right, let me clarify, since I automatically made an assumption. In the event that there was an impaired driver, then he's definitely a DUMB@$$.
You're right Shelby, anyone can foul up driving a car with this kind of power. However, and I'm speculating here, I'm betting he wasn't driving without the influence of some altering chemicals or alchohol. Just my hunch, and I hope I'm wrong.

The comments on the Jalopnik website are entertaining.

where are you guys seeing it's a Hennessey tt/SC?

There are several pics of it out there with the HENNESSEY LOGO on the back and 1000hp

That's why I hate these threads. I figured it would be useless to try and keep this one off as it will just get posted over and over.

Unless you are a garage queen (which are some of the guys MOST likely to sit on the internet and speculate about what happens to other people when driving fast cars), the dumbass sitting in a ditch could someday be you. Shit, I know there's a looooooooong line of members of this forum whose cars I've seen cracked up with the VIN and license plates taped over so nobody finds out.

I just hope when anyone who just loves to let everyone know when someone trashes their pride and joy does so themselves, there's an endless line of chuckling internet photographers there waiting to snap away and distribute the story. :thumbsup

My thoughts, exactly!

Hey, it can happen to anyone with these type of cars.......................

Gentlemen,

The first person to lose control of a Ford GT and crash it was Mark McGowan right here in AZ on the Volvo Proving Ground test track. He showed us the site during a tour of that facility. I have TWICE left a racetrack at high speed backward and by some miracle didn't even scratch #34 but that was sheer luck. Both times I thought I was in control of things right up to the moment when......I wasn't. I am a lot more conservative on the street but with a ton of HP and no traction control I can see (and have seen) some pretty good drivers destroy their GTs. Mark is the best in the business and if it can happen to him, it can happen to just about anybody. Cheers.

One of the curses of fortune and fame is people's rush to crucify you when you make a, very human, mistake. If any of us, get a ticket, have a flat, loose the keys, or have a fender bender in the GT, the majority of spectators on the street will think or say "that rich dick got what he had coming." I can't hate them for it. I have seen some silly behavior from the rich and famous, and thought to myself 'what a nitwit.' If it had been my friend or neighbor, I wouldn't have been so judgmental. It's just human nature. Luckily I'm perfect now. Plus, I would never drive like a retar.... oh wait, never mind.
