After a seemingly endless journey, beginning with an approved allocation on July 16, 2016, delivery of J00162 has finally occurred.
The car is simply amazing, looking like it is ready to race! Fit and finish are exceptional as you might hope and expect.
I can’t say enough about the Delivery Specialist, Steve Coates. If you were looking for the right skill set and passion for this role, Steve’s the right guy.
Then there was the decision about where to take delivery of your new pride and joy. A real no-brainer, it was delivered at ICON garage, owned/managed by DBK. (Yes, notwithstanding your thoughts and concerns, he is still with us).
For those who know, and maybe here for those that don’t, Dave embodies all the passion and knowledge that Ford could have ever wanted in representing the Company, and it’s intent, for their halo car. Lots of Customer Care that you’d never expect from a guy who doesn’t hold a title or yield remuneration from Ford.
In this regard, I would like to thank Dave not only for providing a proper place for my GT delivery, but importantly, for his assistance in keeping me from opening the proverbial Ford GT Pandora’s box - the extended color palate. In so doing, I was able to avoid the countless hours of struggle and self doubt of sorting through 33,000 possible color selections and instead able to secure a color/content package that was thoroughly thought out by a design team at Ford that has all the right skills and talent to come up with a fabulous value proposition and historical reference that was so important to me.
Special Credits to: Dave (DBK), Steve Coates - Delivery Specialist, Pearce - Technical Director at MulitMatic, Keith English - Sales at Demmer Ford, Vehicle Build Team at MultiMatic, the Ford Design Team - Morey, Chris, Todd, Craig, Garen and all the rest whose names I can’t recall, but stood to make this car unique and functional while still being an amazing piece of automotive art! And of course, Messers Bill and Henry Ford (3) - you guys took some serious risk in building this car, returning to the holy grail of endurance racing after 50 years and then offering the car to us in a unique ownership process. WOW!
