Is there any interest?

'Still say raised whites look fine on a muscle car, but out of place somehow on a supercar/exotic...much like chromed wheels. JMHO...but then, what the devil do I know.

(In my defense, though, it appears there must be a few people at Ferrari, Lambo, Pagani, Koenigsegg, et al, who hold the same opinion. :wink)

EP, you really think that doesn't look good?

Can you share the rough quantity of tire 'sets' that are required for GY to make a new mold?
I'm not sure of the exact quantity (sets) required to justify the making cost of making a new mold. I can find out that info when we call. This inquiry was more for ammo than anything to call an say "there is quite a bit of interest on the FGT forum alone to consider making these tires available to the general public or at least on special order basis".

"It wasn't really intented to "prove" anything. It's just a 7 figure hypercar the manufacturer feels looks appropriate wearing tire lettering, and I agree with them." - DBK

...and, if you noticed, it's lettering that one almost has to look for as opposed to the in-your-face Goodyear lettering in post #2 above.

But, for the record, me no likey white sidewalls on said cars either!

'Guess we'll have to agree to disagree, Dave.

I just don't care for RWLs on supercars, Ed. 'Muscle cars - yes. Super/HYPER/exotics - no. 'Just MHO.

(You know, some people don't even care for FORDS! :lol)

Not for me, unless there is a substantial compound revision.....

Geez, I hate to get in Pocket's corner on this one, but I'm not a big fan of RWL or white walls on a "super car" either. On an AC Cobra, I think the bill board tires look fabulous. Original GT40 also looks cool with bill boards with AVON or GY tires. Personal preferences definitely come in to play here.

Sinovac, can I have your new Bridgestone's if you switch to the bill boards? : )

I think they would try anything to distract the eye away from the grotesque styling of that car. McLaren really is in need of a good design.

I have to say the car shown above is the very first McL I've ever seen with anything but 'blackwalls' on it...

Yes. I would be interested. Letters should be in more original/traditional font and smaller letters than on the prototype car.

Curious that nobody has addressed this point, but with Bridgestone no longer making the Potenza'a in the GT's size ( am I correct??), what are the options?

I understand that some guys run Hoosiers on the track. I think some guys run Michelins (though not sure) on the street. Other than the Michelins for the street, what else is there in the OEM size?

RE: GY - I like with and without the raised white letters. I just want a tire.

I'm 100% with EP on this topic. Eff RWL unless they are on a real old school race car where the sole purpose was advertising.

I'd possibly be interested - especially if it was available in the Eagle F1 Supertire G2 compound currently being mounted on the high performance Mustangs

I've heard this before. The original F1s weren't that great but the new ones on the GT500 sound much improved.

G2 is definitely better but still has its faults. I don't have it on hand, but I think the GT500 came with a notification not to drive the car at all under 55* and there were some issues with the tires cracking at low temps (temps only cold climate people would see).

Interesting - nice to have insight into the real world. Thanks, Dave.

There is actually a sticker in the door jamb with the warning, I was thinking it might be under 40* though.

They are also both asymetrical and directional, so no rotating at all on the split fittments.

The Goodyear Product Service Bulletin.

PSB #2011-10

TO: Goodyear Contract Dealers, Goodyear Canada Inc. Dealers, Goodyear Company Owned Stores

Subject: Eagle F1 Supercar G:2 Summer Tires Not Recommended for Winter Use

Goodyear F1 Supercar G:2’s are D.O.T. approved ultra high performance summer tires with track capability. The rubber used in these tires loses flexibility and may develop surface cracks in the tire tread/shoulder area at colder temperatures. Goodyear does not recommend using these high performance summer tires when temperatures drop to approximately 40 deg F (5 deg C) or below, or in snow/ice conditions.

Tire Storage
Follow the general tire storage recommendations in Product Service Bulletin 2010-21, Proper Procedures for the Storage of Tires. Further, it is recommended for these tires to be stored indoors at temperatures above 20 deg F (-7 deg C) when not in use. If the tires have been subject to 20 deg F (-7 deg C) or less, let them warm up in a heated space to at least 40 deg F for 24 hours or more before installation or driving the vehicle. Inflate the tires only after they have been warmed above 40 deg F (5 deg C). Do not place tires near heaters or heating devices used to warm the room where the tires are stored. Do not apply heat or blow heated air directly on the tires. Always inspect tires before use after storage periods as outlined in the Proper Procedures for the Storage of Tires bulletin.
