Is that a kit car?

Took the 2021 Heritage GT out for a spin this afternoon. At a stoplight, a guy in an Audi S4 asked, “Is that a kit car?” Thinking he was joking (he wasn’t), I said, Yes.” At the next light, I told him it was actually a 2021 Ford GT. He then asked, “Are you shifting with the Tiptronic?” I said, “It’s got a dual clutch 7 speed transmission and I’m shifting with the paddles.”

What’s the strangest / most interesting thing you’ve been asked when driving your GT?

My favorite is when I was catching Sunset a lady came up to me and asked if it was a McLaren. I responded and said no it’s a Ford!
In a disappointing tone she said oh! And than walked away

Ford dealer parts guys automatically go to their Mustang parts display when you say "GT".

I just say the list price was $149,000. Usually satisfies their interest. Saves them the time to google it.

The 296 GTB was presented as the first "real Ferrari with six cylinders" in June of 2021. So Ford was only about 5 years ahead of Ferrari on that one...

I used to get asked if it was a kit car a lot when I drove my Pantera. MANY people who asked the question had never seen one and did not know what it was. Early on I was kinda offended until one guy at a high-end jewelry place said..."that's a real one, I can't believe you drive it in public...".
He was essentially saying that he thought it was a replica because you don't see cars like that on a regular basis...I have taken it as a compliment from then on.

When I had my black ERA Cobra a guy at a fuel stop started chatting with me. He was quite knowledgeable about all things Shelby. Eventually I had to say “ but this isn’t a real Cobra, it’s a replica”. He looked me and said, “ well, some titties are fake, - but they’re still damn fine!”

In one convo while fueling up I was asked what I do for a living.

"What kinda guy drives a car like this,
you must be a Doctor or Lawyer"

Look on their face was priceless!

Didn't mention I'm a very busy construction biz owner.
