Hi,
I have a great stero guy who has done work on all my cars. He just intalled the Escort 9500ci radar detector, laser diffuse into my GT. He also hooked up my iPod, but hooked it up directly to the ampof the optional McIntosh between the seats. I had told him I was concerned about scratching the center console, and he said it was difficult to try to install the iPod cable from underneath, without Radio removal. The iPod plays great, and the intall was clean and relatively easy. Does anyone see any problems with the install done this way?

Thanks,
Seth

Is the volume controlled only by the ipod in your installation (i.e. it's bypassed the head unit by going directly into the power amp)? If that's the case there's a danger you could overload your speakers by inadvertently plugging in with the volume too high.

Perhaps he did not know that the MAC head unit in your car has RCA input wires taped up behind the stereo. Use some blue painter's tape on the console and surrounding area and then with the right tools, the radio pulls right out to access the RCA wires.

Exactly, this is how mine is setup at the moment(till the new double din center console goes in). I have an audioquest cable going into the aux input so I can just rest the iphone on a no slip pad.

I had Shelby put an audio in jack right next to my start button (like he did on his TT) then i use this Kensington liquidaux to hold and charge my ipod. Also has a steering wheel control so you can change songs via the steering wheel remote.

iPod for the GT

Shadowman designed my iPod for the OEM Mac stereo system. It works great. I couldn't live without it on the freeway. Once I hit the twisties then the stereo goes off & the DA engine is my music!
