both did not learn from the first release. The software update should have come online before the stores updated. I usually plug mine in just after midnight but it did not update this time ... they actually waited until 9am east coast time before they released the update then combined with the 3g rush it crushed iTunes. Poor planning and/or poor middle management thinking. IMHO

We've had the 3g's for a few weeks (developer advance) using the network is quicker but other than that function the phones are (by structure) very similar.

the biggest advantage is that AT&T addresses the enterprise and business market for this device :cheers Think of the impact on RIM :thumbsdow not just here but World Wide! My company took RIM to China, Africa and Europe as an equipment supplier to address business needs.... This feature and linkage opens up a whole new market for Apple and the providers in total that have distribution rights

I agree ... the iPhone is a revolutionary rather than evolutionary product and has the capability to become a true mobile computer with just a few minor modifications. In a few months the 32gig 3g phone will be on the market and coupled with some indevelopment applications will make the iPhone a true powerhouse. RIM had the lead but squandered it .... Apple has a long history of exploiting niches that become mainstream often to the utter "shock" of the entrenched business models.

Apple tried too early with the Newton ... people where not ready for the technology and it has been fairly interesting to watch a developmental plan come online in its various stages inre ipod/video ipod ..iPhone 1 and now 2 ...
