Seriously, wtf? They rolled out the new iPhone today and the software updates for the old units. I updated my phone, and apparently it has to connect to the server for it to be usable. Well, the demand of 10 million people doing it at once has killed the servers. Nobody can get through. My phone is a paperweight right now.

Seriously, why shouldn't old users have been able to update for the last 72 hours to prevent the glut today? The servers aren't just slow, they're OFF, which means stores are sending home customers to activate themselves. Someone at AT&T is drafting a letter demanding legal redress right now. Subsidizing all that cost and not getting guaranteed activations. Ouch.

It's not just a AT&T issue..... iPhone in europe is distributed by Orange and others so it is now a world wide problem just to make matters worse for ya DBK :lol

where the heck is the software update for the old phones? version 2.0? I can't find it...do I need to actually go to an Apple store to get it updated? My buddy was in line from 8:30 a.m. till 3pm waiting to get a phone!

Make sure your iTunes is the most up to date version and then just try to sync your phone. It will ask. That's what I did. I couldn't find the damn thing on the apple site either.

My nieghbor just came home with the new iPhone. He was in line by 7am and out the door by 9am.

He said it took him 30 tries/30 minutes before he could get through to the Apple site.

After seeing this new toy.....I NEED one. Way too cool!:thumbsup

both did not learn from the first release. The software update should have come online before the stores updated. I usually plug mine in just after midnight but it did not update this time ... they actually waited until 9am east coast time before they released the update then combined with the 3g rush it crushed iTunes. Poor planning and/or poor middle management thinking. IMHO

We've had the 3g's for a few weeks (developer advance) using the network is quicker but other than that function the phones are (by structure) very similar.
