I hope I am not stepping on anyone's toes and if the moderator feels this is an unacceptable post, please feel free to let me know, thanks.

The SCMC (SVT Cobra Mustang Club) is celebrating 15 years of SVT with a 15 year anniversary of the SVT Cobra. The event will take place at Virginia International Raceway on May 30 - June 1, 2008. The event is a three day event with full course on Friday and south course on Saturday/Sunday. This past Sunday I had the pleasure of getting to drive a Ford GT and all I can saw is WOW! It was definitely the most fun car I have ever driven on the track. One of our club members was gracious enough to let me take it our for a run session.

Anyway, we'd like to invite you all to come out and enjoy a weekend with us and if you are not into running the road course, feel free to come out and enter the car show. We will have a mobile dyno on site, Team Shelby will have their trailer and some Shelby Mustangs at the event.

Please visit our website for more information at:

http://www.svtcobraclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14843&page=1

You may also sign up for the event at www.scmcstore.com

Thanks for letting me share this with the Ford GT owners. :cheers

How much for the track time? How are the run groups handled?

Frank,

It is $450.00 for three days of track. The Friday full course will be 4 run sessions of 30 minutes each. That means you will get 2 hours of full course. The Saturday/Sunday will be five run groups and look to get 6 or 7 sessions at 30 minutes each over the weekend. If we can get 10 cars from this forum to attend then we'll give y'all a $25.00 member discount and make it $425.00 for three days of track! Some clubs charge as much as $350.00 for a day of full course, we're giving you three days with 2 hours of track time on Friday.

The groups range from novice to advanced/instructor. Basically, on Friday if you have a lot of track experience, you will be grouped with all of the Terminators and Cobra R guys that have tons of experience. If you do not have a lot of experience and it is your first or second event, you'll be grouped with the beginner group.

What a great track. I just got back from racing CMC at a NASA event there and would have to say it's my new favorite track in the USA. Anyone even remotely considering this event should do it IMHO. The GT would be awesome at VIR.

The Texas chapter comes to Austin once a year for a run through the hill country and partying in between. I'll post when the next one is scheduled.

And you'll get 2 hours of track time of full course with us...4 thirty minute sessions. I was just told this week that some of the Shelby Can Am cars are wanting to come out and run with us during the event. :thumbsup

We do not do time trials, it is a HPDE with maximum track time and minimal fees. I know of some places that charge almost twice of what we are charging for three days.

Just a reminder about our event and bump for those that haven't seen it yet. :biggrin

I apologize to those that PM'ed me as I usually just lurk on the board and not sign in. Would be nice to see a bunch of Ford GTs running with our Cobra R members.

Just a reminder about the event which will be in two weeks. We have numerous Shelbys running with us, Mustang Cobras, some Corvettes and Porsches. Team Shelby will be there and we will have an on site dyno and tuner. JLT will be present and you can contact Jay if you need anything he carries.

The event will be covered by the "Mustang Enthusiast" magazine and it looks like things are starting to shape up even more.

You can see who is signed up by going here:

I do hope we can get a few of you to come out on track with us. I'm sure one of our members who owns a Ford GT will be bringing his to run over the weekend.

E-mail me if you have questions at tony@svtcobraclub.com, thanks.

Hell - I'll go just to fill up the gas tank and hang out for the day. But as Tiger 6, Cyclenirvana, eiusus, CReynolds and others here know watch out for the Oak tree and the Armco Wall......- BUT WHAT A TRACK!

Hope to see Gordo the weekend after that with his new ride..... :cheers

Come on out and hang out with us to check out the events. I don't want you to get sticker shock or surprised when you get there so enter the car show. Cost is $20.00 and you can run parade laps during lunch. If you just spectate, price will be $20.00 and no parade laps, so why not enter? Should be a fun day for all that are involved. :cheers

I have run VIR south so I am very familiar with Oak Tree turn, I have never run full course so I think I am in for a surprise. :biggrin :banana

I'm not sure I understand what your question is??? Do you mean can you register for the event at the track? If that is what you mean then the answer is yes but we prefer you enter the car show or track portion of the event prior to going to the event at www.scmcstore.com so we can send you event registration information.

If your question refers to spectating then you can do that the day of the event.
