how 'bout the Elise... damn't I can fit in one :frown Take a look at Automobile's article on the F430 against the Elige...sweet, but not to be for this guy :thumbsdow

The Elise is a blast. It is my track car. I have a new Exige on order, should be here in March. It's a bitch to get in and out of, but once you're in it is plenty roomy enough for me (6'0" 210lbs)

Yeah it's an SL65 AMG. The give away is the vent in the front facia forward of the front wheel.

50 BMG got it right. It's a Z8.

Here's another pic. The Cooper sitting outside has the JCW package on it. It's my "beater".

Boy, that is really hard to say. Kind of depends on the application. Maybe a good way to look at it is if I had to sell everything and keep just one what would it be...I'd keep the GT as I believe it is the most unique and collectable over the long term.

On the other hand:

Favorite convertible: Z8
Favorite track car: Lotus
Favorite road trip car: SL65AMG
Favorite tear around town: Cooper
Favorite street race car (not that I do...): Viper w Paxton

NICE!

Those lotuses sure look like fun. I e-mailed lotus on those neat 240r's. I think they are impossible- but I can dream. Sounds like you have a blast with yours.

Forgetting about the collectibility, Compare the Ferrari to the GT for me. I have a deposit down on a F430 but I like the GT, I have driven the GT but not the F430, Although I just sold my 360 modena.I would appreciate your opinion? Driveability, comfort, quality ETC.

What brand of model lifts are you using to store the cars? I think I might need some of these too. I read someone liked Backyard Buddy. I looked at those and BendPak. I would like something that can store a car above and also be used as a lift to service the car.

I am in earthquake country in CA about 1.5 miles fron the San Andreas fault!!! I wonder how safe the cars would be when the big one hits?

Chris, I am sorry for you, you must be under tremendous pressure, how do you decide which car to drive? I think I would crack under the same conditions. Way to many decisions for me to make :biggrin

OK, my thoughts on the two:

F430:
The sound is to die for. I have a Tubi on it.
Interior is beautiful and comfortable
Much better storage capability
Better visibility out of the car
Easier to get into and out of
I love the F1 shifters
Harsh ride on rough roads
Did I mention the exhaust sound?

GT:
Broader and more linear power delivery
Feels much more like a race car when you're in it
Too quiet for me, but I have the Borla ordered
Hard to describe, but the GT just feels more "planted", less twitchy in corners

Overall, I would say the Ferrari is a more refined car and is certainly finished to a higher level. Definitely the one to choose for "date night". On the other hand the GT is the car I'd choose if I was out to run the canyons. If pushed, I would have to choose the GT as the most fun of the two to drive. Although in all candor the Lotus is probably more fun to drive than both of them!

This is really a tough comparison. They are both extraordinary. You just can't make a bad choice IMO.

My lifts are Revolution, made by Rotary, a US company http://www.revolutionlifts.com/ They make commercial lifts as well and you can have them serviced locally if needed. Mine are bolted to the floor. I can't imagine an earthquake issue. (they seem to hold up fine in hurricanes :biggrin )

I too live in earthquake country. I bought and installed the bendpak, they will paint it to match the color of you car for a few $'s. I t was easy but at least two people is a must (lifting). It comes with all the hardware to bolt it to the floor and seems very solid.
My only problem was they sent me the wrong motor & pump and it took them 2 months to send the right one (after many many calls).
