Iforged Wheel/Tire Upgrade Questions

I'm purchasing Iforged PS Classic 2 wheels (semi gloss black centers with chrome lips and TPMS adapters) for my 06 yellow w/black stripe GT. I went with 19's on the front and 20's on the rear.

Iforged recommended 9.5" width for the front and 12" width for the rear, which are 1/2" wider than the stock rims. Is this the typical widths that anyone else is using for Iforged rims?

Iforged also recommended the following tire sizes:

255/35/19 (front tires)
315/35/20 (rear tires)

I checked these sizes, and they appear correct in getting really close to the original factory tire heights. Is anyone else running these tire sizes on 19" and 20" rims?

I checked Tire Rack, and it looks like I can get Pirelli (Pzero Rasso) in these sizes. Michelin does not appear to carry the rear tire size. Does anyone else know of any other recommended tire brands that carry these sizes? My plan is to find a local dealer that I trust that is competive with Tire Rack's prices, since I will need my local dealer to mount and balance them for me.

I will also need to order lugs. Does anyone have any suggestion on where, and what size lugs I should purchase for these rims? I want them long enough, and they should not damage the rims.

Has anyone ever done custom etched FORD GT center caps for these rims?

The rims come with an ED finish for protection, but it may not be available for these rim sizes I understand.

Am I missing anything else, or overlooking anything, related to this wheel/tire upgrade?

Thanks!

I ran the exact same Iforged wheels on my GT, but in the 20/22 combo. Several others here also have them. The measurements they have fit great, and the sizes he recommends are usually around the stock wheel's rolling diameter.

If I remember correctly, I used my stock lugs, but it was so long ago, I could be wrong.

RKGT,

For tires, I would recommend the following brand/size:

Rear: 345/35-19 Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Scuderia
Front: 265/40-18 Bridgestone Potenza RE050

These rears are smaller in diameter by .41" - or ~.2" on radius;
These fronts are .02" different in diameter;

The OEM Front/Rear diameter ratio is 91.03% and with this Bridgestone set-up the F/R ratio is 92.42%. The result is that the ABS computer will be fine.

I just mounted a set of these Bridgestones up (to the stock wheels) this weekend and I was very impressed on how well balanced they were. They all required very little weight. (By the way, the OEM Goodyears also have very good balancing characteristics as we did a set of these a week ago.)

Kendall, you and many others on the forum like these so much I am planning on a set when my Goodyears are done. That should be after I get back from Rally III. :biggrin

Kendall, I dont think those would fit on 19 & 20" rims. Unless of course you use the Tire Stretcher I got you for Xmas.:biggrin

Thanks ROCMAN, I really liked your wheels when I first saw them on the forum a long time ago, and that is why I chose that style. Your car is pictured on the IFORGED website as well. I chose semi gloss black for the centers, but I've debated either going with flat/satin black, or full gloss black, and I still have time to switch. IFORGED recommended semi gloss, which is somewhat inbetween.

Kendall, thanks for the tire information. Can you provide the same info. for the 19 and 20" rims that I'm purchasing from IFORGED?

Thanks

No, not even close. But the trip to Vegas and back should add 1600+ miles and depending on what I do at LVMS I could eat up some more rubber.

DOH! I really need to learn to read!

OK, for a 20" rear and 19" front, I would recommend;

Rear: 305/35-20 Pirelli PZero
Front: 245/35-19 Pirelli PZero (Note: 255/35-19 is also available, but I would favor the 245 width tire.)

These rears are smaller in diameter by .52" - or ~ 1/4" on radius;
These fronts are .57" different in diameter, also about 1/4" on radius.

The OEM Front/Rear diameter ratio is 91.03% and with this Pirelli set-up the F/R ratio is 90.66%. The result is that the ABS computer will be fine.

I would personally not recommend the P Zeros. I went with them originally because they were super close to stock rolling diameter....but I never liked the way they performed. Recently went to the PS2's and like them much better. Wish they made the Bridgestones in the bigger sizes because they are great tires (you stock size guys should check em' out) Ralph the sizes I used are:

265/35/19
335/30/20

talked to Rich a few weeks ago and he told me it would take quite a big departure to freak the ABS out.

Thanks for the tire information guys, much appreciated. It seems that there are not many choices for the rear 20X12" rims to stay close to stock rolling diameter with a slightly wider tire. There are plenty of tire choices for the front 19X9.5" rims though.
