Went to a reveal party put on by the local Lambo dealer last night and checked out the car up close. It was very Lambo. They sent a svelte little man in a very nicely tailored suit named Leonardo all the way from Italy to rattle off the specifications.
My first thought is that for a company that has outrageousness in their DNA they have been choosing some seriously tame demo combos of late. The car was a silvery color and had a tan interior, which looked nice but didn't have the pop the skittles colors have. It looked a lot less wild than an old LP570 superleggera they had off to the side. I think the car will benefit big time from the SL/Performante treatment.
The interior was really nice. Lots of headroom, nice layout, nice seats, good materials. Visibility seemed worse than it was in the old car. Windshield is a slit compared to 458, MP4, R8, etc but not that big a deal because the front end is so short. Front and rear LED lamps looked great lit and that forged composite CF that covered most of the engine bay looked very nice. Nice change of pace from typical CF and should become a Lambo trademark. Really liked the 20" wheels all around.
They fired it up but it was a demo and seemed to have some tuning issues. Couldn't get it to stop hunting for idle, which was funny, but I don't think most of the people there seemed to notice or care. Demo driver should be here soon and I look forward to taking it for a spin.
Someone came in an orange Aventador roadster, and that car pretty much makes all other cars out right now look invisible.
