Not a Tungston!!! I thought we were immune. Except for the rollover in El Paso and the encounter with the telephone pole in Houston.

I can't even begin to imagine how sick you must feel. Karosserie is one of the very best coach builders in the country if not the world. They painted my car and did an incredible job. Other forum members have used them for more serious damage repair and from what I understand all were most pleased with the result.

Saleen Irvine or Troy

Maybe I miss heard, but I was told that Saleen in Irvine no longer does any production and has only a few people left doing mods on mustangs only? All building and repairs now takes place in Troy.

I also heard that they are trying to sub lease that building that is owed by the Irvine Company. So it looks like they are trying to move to a much smaller location for mods only.

I hope it isn't true, because I live in O.C. and it would suck to have to send mine to Troy for any body repair!

Chin-up my friend, at least you walked away unscathed. The bruised ego will heal and the GT will be mended too.

How did it happen?

I shipped my car out to the GT Guys for repairs after the car window and fender were hit by a falling tree. They did an outstanding job and if you cannot find anyone local w/ experience, it is worth looking into. At least get a quote on shipping. Take pics of car and contact Dennis or Rich and they may be able to work an estimate based on body work etc. Glad you are okay....cars can always be fixed.

I'd recommend Saleen in Troy, and while you have it there, have the Gurney Bubble put into the driver's door. Contact Bryan Chambers (General Mgr.) at bchambers@saleen.com or Todd Helms (Special Projects Mgr.) at thelms@saleen.com. Their general phone number is (248) 743-4800.

Crash

For all the western US guys, there is a shop in Orange Co. California, Bells Auto Body, that is factory trained in Italy to repair al body and al frame Ferrari's. I have seen a Challenge Cup car that was crushed from the rear. They rebuilt the al frame and put the car back to 100% factory specs.

Some of you may have visited their shop after the Stillen event, they are across the street from Stillen. I know Dave stopped over.

These guys repaired my 360 Ferrari (not my fault, of course:biggrin) as well as the GT. My GT was hit in the back. They have a GREAT reputation in the Ferrari world as they are the only factory trained ferrari shop west of Houston, Tx. They have all the correct welders and training to properly weld both body and frame members to avoid weakening the al. One must have both the proper equipment and the correct training to do it right. They do.

They have all the frame equipment to be able to check the frame to be sure there is no damage. Al frame cars can be tweaked from an impact that is not easily seen/found. They know how to check it to be sure.

I can recommend them for any/all high end work.

Their contact information:
Ralph Bell
714.549.1220

Hope this helps and feel free to pm me for any other discussion or information.

Several of us visited with Ralph during the Stillen get together and Ralph was extremely accommodating in showing us around his expansive shop. There were some impressive vehicles there including an Enzo, XJ220...

Jim, you are correct. In a recent get-together with Camilo and Dave at my place, they told me about these changes at Saleen.

A buddy just last month had front body work done to his GT at the Irvine Saleen location. The quality and care the car received was first rate. They even painted the nose twice because THEY weren't happy with the 1st color match.:thumbsup

From what I understand, Ferrari has a tolerance of 2mm for frame movement out of factory specs before repairs are required (on al frame cars). 2mm does not seem like much, especially in 3 dimensions. I think that would be hard to see with the naked eye.

I wonder what Ford's specs are for frames? I will try to find out and post here if I can.
