Tony it seems to me you are looking for a guarantee. You're not going to get one in regards to this car but we all have a better chance than what was originally believed and here is why.
If you want a guarantee, buy a muffler.
250 per year is total world wide production. Maybe 175 vehicles come to the US. Of that allocation, there is also a split between civilian owners and Ford Dealer owners that want to buy a car for themselves. Say that 50 cars go there. Allowing for world-wide smushing, that says (to me) that the US/Canada civilian allocation is 125 cars, 150 max.
I'm trying to make the point that there are enough members here to consume all of the US allocation, so realistically, Ford won't permit that. While we as a group are the flag bearers for the brand, they will necessarily (politically) have to spread them around.
Just wait. When the order banks open it's going to look like an overbooked United flight on Christmas Eve.
Some here, I'm sure, will get to the head of the line. If it is true that original owners get bonus points that kicks out most of the rest of us here [I'd bet that current GT owners also get points, but not as many as original, first registered, owners]. But most of us (and most of the world) will have to try again next year. Or the year after...
In the end, the competition for the cars after a few owners, the mathematical behaviour of the "system" will be that of a lottery or sweepstakes where those who had the most tickets win. Some tickets are grandfathered to their owners before the tickets are available to the rest of us and they will bubble to the top.
I'll try but I'm not holding my breath.
P.S. I'm mostly in agreement with what you said, only disputing that the number of available units is about 1/2 of worldwide production. I assert again, that you may want to consider getting a PO box (or equivalent) in Dubai.
