Ordered Mine Too

I too was one of the lucky ones to find a dealer who allowed me to order a two option car.
Dealer took pictures of transporter delivery and could not have been more pleased with the whole experience.
Have purchased two more new Ford's because of the GT buying experience!
What a car......

I DIDN'T order mine - but might just as well have. 'Bought mine off the showroom floor equipped exactly the way I would have ordered it. (Only in hindsight now would I have dropped the Mac.)

So, the only thing I missed out on was the l-o-n-g w-a-i-t for the car once I made up my mind to, "get 'er dunn."

built to my order

Ordered mine to my specifications while still working for Ford Motor Co. ... Midnight Blue, all stripes, Optional wheels, red calipers and no MAC.

With help from Fred Goodnow and HauTaiTang (thanks to both) I was able to watch it being built at Saleen in Troy and photo the process with Fred.

Then went to Wixom on Jan 30, 2006 with Fred for final build and test. I was there with the camera when they put the first gallon of gas in the tank and fired up the engine! It was a great day! I tried to have the truck from Wixom drop it off directly at my home, but was told I needed to have it delivered thru the dealer I had chosen (AVIS Ford in Southfield). I asked them to not prep the car or remove any stickers , decals , plastic etc. I went to the Dealership and did that myself and took my final photos with my Salesman and wife Margaret with our new 'baby'.
A great time , a great car and have now met a great bunch of people on the GT Forum. Looking forward to seeing all of you in LasVegas.

I was lucky enough that my local dealership found exactly what I wanted...

I looked for quite awhile trying to find a four option Tungsten for the price I thought was fair. I finally had the fleet guy at the local dealer here (Sewell Ford) take a look and he found 12, but only one that would sell it for the price I desired. Took three weeks until Gary A had time to bring it to me from Centerville Ohio; that was the longest wait of my life!

9 months later I turned Peak on to the same guy who found his in short order. Gary A and Bernie delivered it to ME since Peak was on his honeymoon!

I ordered mine direct. I asked my dealer about the GT in June 1994, he called me several months later. He gave me a couple of months to decide on the spec, and I received it in June 1995 - 1 year to the date I had asked him about it.
