Do they devide the total Insurance into 6 equal portions or do they make a calculation based on each cars value vs total load value?

It depends on which claimant has the better lawyer. :lol

Seriously though, the insurance company has an obligation to protect the insured (trucking company) from an excess claim/judgment (claim or judgment in excess of the policy limits). In a case like this, the insurance company should, and typically does, hire counsel for the trucking company to conduct a global mediation conference to get all the claimants (and their respective insurance companies) together to reach a resolution on the division of the policy limits. However, as a practical matter, there is not likely to be any good resolution to these claims given the aggregate claim values far exceed the limits. Hopefully the car owners have their own coverage. Those car owners who do not have their own coverage should immediately file suit to apply maximum pressure on the insurance company to pay them first.

Very sorry to see this happened to you. I hope it gets resolved to your best interest in the end.

On a personal note I checked with my insurance agent on my GT to make sure the policy covered the increased market value and my existing limits. I thank you for that.

Hoping the best for you.

A little too late but always ask for a certificate of insurance.

If you don't have an agreed/stated value policy, you don't need to worry about it. If your car is a total loss, your comprehensive or collision coverage will pay fair market value (ha, ha). Those with agreed/stated value policies must understand that those policies are a 2 way street. The company is only required to pay the agreed value even if it is substantially less than the fair market value of the car. I would think that cars in the 5-10k mileage range (excluding the Heritage cars) should be insured for no less than 200k.

My yellow (no miles) GT has 240K fixed value for 3 years, my white one 210k, my Viper 88k and my Z06 has 65k. Each car required an evaluation - which I had done at the insurance company's request. They all (except the yellow one) had to have tracking devices as well to qualify for this particular insurance. There is no mileage limit on any of them, except the yellow one, which is not registered or licensed for road use,

Ray, that plain sucks. I find it sad, amusing, and embarrassing that the email seems to concentrate on making sure you are concerned about the $35 per day storage fee of said totaled car. Wow.

thanks for all the comments and support guys... really is pathetic and the main lesson here is to take note of the little things that we take for granted... to be honest i rarely ever line up the transports for any of my cars leaving that up to the tuner or broker i am buying the car from... they take care of business and normally it is just fine...

to see how a company (companies) have handled this, followed by the email is truly adding insult to injury...

i think it would be good for the forum to start a blacklisted beware list of transporters and vendors to stay away from. i know i have been burned a few times and would have been nice to have somewhere that i could have checked for a warning label...

will keep you updated on the outcome...
