How can I keep my baby cool under this Arabian Sun?

My baby just really doesn’t seem to like this heat over here and I was wondering how I can go about keeping her a little cooler?

Thanks,

T

Swapping the exhaust is a quick option, going from the stock muffler to an X or H pipe should lower the engine temp (and weight)

To be honest, I have seen the exact opposite effect when going to the x-pipes. Now, I would not give up my aftermarket (Heffner) exhaust for anything as the sound, look and performance is awesome.... But from every aftermarket exhaust we have used, they all seem to get higher temps out of the car...

If you haven't done so already, place spacers between your rear license plate & the body. This will allow hot air from the engine compartment to exit thru the big "hole" the license plate normally blocks when mounted.

You also might try some brand of "water wetter"...though there are mixed reviews as to the effectiveness of them.

If you go to an "X" pipe, wrap it with heat wrap or have it "Jet Hot" coated inside & out. That will keep the pipe's heat inside the 'pipe itself.

Edit: 'Probably(!) would be a good idea to open the clamshell right after driving the car too! I know that won't help to cool the car when running - but, it might help to keep various body parts from warping - even in the furnace you call home!:lol

How hot is hot? Under what conditions is it getting hot? (High speed driving, slow traffic, etc.) What is the air temperature?

Really? I recently swapped out my pulley and installed the Heffner pulley and exhaust. Torrie did the tune and mine now runs about 180 degrees constant. I believe Torrie has my fans coming on a little early but my car runs VERY cool with my setup. Tuning and earlier fan start may really help by itself...

thats weird... I just had my x-pipes put on and the car runs much cooler than before. I leave my clamshell open after driving for a bit and noticed a big difference between the two

Shelby has much more experience though so i would defer to him

Have Torrie send you a tune - a custom tune keeps my gal running much cooler than it did stock.

A couple ideas. Remove grill in front of radiator, it blocks about 20% of the airflow. Doing so will expose the radiator to damage from rocks and things though. Make sure there is no air trapped in the cooling system. There are some aftermarket springs that can be added to a certain section of the cooling hoses to prevent them from collapsing. The two electric fans can be programmed to come on earlier. Richen your fuel mixture, not sure how far you could take that before other issues happen. Along with the other suggestions you might get adequate cooling.

Does your car have the spring kit for the radiator hose?? Some of the cars run a little hotter due to that issue.. should be some threads on here somewhere...

Ah, yes, that is a smart idea; I'll give that a try for starts.

Yeah I definitely have to do this every time. I could probably keep half of Canada warm through the winter with all heat coming off when I open her up after a drive.
