As I sit here in Florida ready to spec out my 650S Lemans Limited Edition car I'm left wondering if I'd be happier waiting for the New GT. McLaren is selling this car to me at MSRP and its a 1 of 50 car with only 25 to the U.S.
Then I realize how unhappy I will be dolling out an extra 150k dealer markup on the already expensive 350k price tag. I'm going to try and be patient and get one in late 2017 or 2018. I only hope by that time the demand drops with the new 458 successor, new dual clutch Aventador, F12 replacement, ect. will carry away some of the buzz.
I agree Ford should use a points system or something to determine who should get priority. I've purchased 25 new Fords over the years and it would be nice if they recognized those of us who bleed blue. We sell the brand. Not some rich guy who buys it just because it's the latest greatest.
I will take my chances and hope I get one at MSRP. If not I will wait and get one on the secondary market. Either way I will get one. Just going to be patient and try to let my school girl enthusiasm settle. I hope being patient pays off. Problem is that I said the same for the P1 and didn't get myself an allocation. Now I doubt I will ever get one. The rational side of me says 1.3 million is too much, but the other side says I missed out on a real special car.
