Help with an annoying noise

I never figured out my screech creak on the right front but when I hit a bump sounds like the edge of the windshield rubbing against the frame like fingernails suddenly pulled against the blackboard. Just a sudden sound like that too heavy to be a air box or rear hatch rub.

Did you ever figure it out? I have the same rattle that just came up the last few times I have driven? Over medium sized bumps I hear it. Either on the gas or not the clunk sounds like its behind my ear in the glass. When I open the clamshell I can grab the upper cross brace, shake hard, and recreate the noise, but no one can pin point it. Seems low in the chassis and I'm worried the half shaft bolts are loose and clunking when I go over a bump. I'm afraid to loosen the outer bolts and check since they are single torque bolts. I've eliminated the clam shell as the source. I'm down to the bottom diffuser, belly pans, or the dreaded half shaft bolts. Any help out there. I've had the updated bolts put in. It's not the drivers seat.

I do have T&A shocks which could be the culprit. Why would they be quiet all summer and now make noise?

Yes, we did fix it. We had a get together in wisconsin a year ago, and the GT guys figured out, in my case the cross braces bolted to the rear bulk head were the source.
Just loosen the bolts, adjust the supports so they didn't rub anywhere, and re-tighten. It seemed like there was a small amount of weld spatter at the joint that would cause the noise when the chassis flexed. Move the bar way from the interference and problem solved.

Sounds like you shaking the cross brace could be similar, but my noise was high in the chassis near the glass. If you can reproduce it you're half way there.

good Luck,
Dan

I started hearing an annoying noise from the rear of the GT whenever I went over a small bump, during the Newport Beach rally. It took a while to figure it out, but putting a little grease on the clam shell latches solved the problem.
A very simple fix if it works for you.

Dan,
Thanks mine sounds like the exact same noise! When I grab the passenger cross bar and rock the car I hear the noise on the drivers side and when I grab the drivers cross bar it goes away. Sounds like mine is the same thing. My sound is right behind my head high up when I'm driving. Will check it and report back.

This forum rocks!
