I will be securing 2 flashlights to the GT if I ever drive it at night to preserve my expensive headlight. I will also make sure the flashlights are not made in China to make sure I don't offend brand loyalty.

This could be the new 'fender emblem'.

Yes , just the inner fenders to remove the entire (light) unit.....the fender stays on.....

Guys, I said the fenders come off to replace the w-i-n-d-s-h-i-e-l-d!

(And, yes, I know there's a way to do a windshield swap with the fenders in place...but, I understand the 'waterproofness' of the final seal could be a bit 'iffy' in the lower corners when employing that method.)

Well then, be sure you rewire the headlight circuitry to disable their "automatic on" feature at the same time!

I was wrong, it's not preposterous it's flat out ridiculous! Change a $1500 - $2000 headlamp unit because of a burned out bulb! Outrageous!!!!!!!!!!!

The headlight bulb can be replaced.

Shelby, can you elaborate on this a little? Are you refering to opening them up with heat and then re-sealing them? Have you been able to do this successfully?
If anyone can do it you can, I dont have a bad one yet but it would be nice to know how to repair one in the future if it's possible.

The Canadian cars do have all of the lights on as soon as the key is turned as part of the daytime running lights law. I wanted to visit a dealer at R6 to toggle them off in the lighting control module but was having too much fun at the rally. I have asked a couple of dealers here to turn them off but I may as well be speaking to the wall. Maybe at R7 I will find a dealer to help me out as it sure would save the lights.
I remember at Indy in 07 GTJoey said we all have to drive with our lights on so the police escort could see who was together. I told him I can't turn mine off and he said "Canadian eh!" :biggrin

Replacement Headlight Bulb

The REPLACEMENT bulb for the GT is "HID-D1S" !!! The REPLACEMENT bulb for the Fog/Driving Lights is "H1" !!! :thumbsup

I have changed several of the headlight bulbs, they are made by Phillips and were also used OE on some Cadillacs for around $70. I don't have the part number handy at the moment but they are not difficult to replace once the fender liners have been removed.

I have a headlight that got water inside (long sad story), after several days of turning it different ways I did get all the water out. However there is now dirt behind the lens. Has anyone tried to take the lens off as described in the utube videos? The light still works but I can't stand looking at the dirt.

If you loose the high beam then they are junk. You cant replace the internal solenoid without cutting the unit up. As the solenoid operates the flapper that allows for the full scope of the magnifier on high beam. So on normal low beam the flapper covers half on the lens, then high beam the solenoid lowers the flap to allow high beam or full strength light.

I should have been more specific, the dirt is on the clear plastic cover on the headlight assembly. This is the part I am trying to
remove. If it has to be cut apart, were you able to reassemble the unit? Thanks for the help, had no idea this is how the hi/low
beam worked. The pictures are great.

I heard that the other day when I was testing the lights in the garage. I'd never had HID lights before and figured it was a "focusing" element.

The poly cover is glued on. It can be removed with care.

Do you recommend heating in oven first or can it be done cold?

I "popped" one of mine off to clean it, it was room temp. Be easy, poly is brittle and these things are ~$3K now (I think). Each.
