Thank you Pete for this procedure. I wonder why the shop manual takes us the long way around. Also, a question for you. I just went out in the garage and looked at the opening, and I see the adjustment screw. Does this adjust the headlamp in the vertical position only? How is the horizontal adjustment made? Just curious, thanks.

Just the one adjustment that I am aware of. And, I believe I talked to a known source who may have admitted to generating that section in the shop manual; after the fact of my lengthy procedure, and we both agree that it created a great learning process, for me. The comfort level knowing it was right made for an easier ride from DC to Watertown, NY and back over the last few days. Besides, a #6 can easily fit into the seat pouch while experimenting.
