Have you ever let some one else drive your GT

I have let several friends who are familiar with High Horsepower drive it with me in the pass. seat. No one has just taken it and probably will not, EXCEPT, Big dilema coming up. Son turns 18 in Jan and graduates High School next year, I know he will ask to take it to the prom, Expecting me to say no, But, he is such a good kid there is a chance and he doesn't even know it yet. He has a few months to screw up and I would probably drive the Cobra behind him.

I have let probably half a dozen people drive besides my wife with myself as a passenger.......none since it was TT'd. I would have to feel pretty good about a person to give them a shot now. :lol :cheers

About a dozen people have driven my car. I always ride along.

Chip
I got to drive Chips car at VIR!
I think Chip was a bit nervous at first, but got right over it after the first lap!
I have now driven 3 turbo Ford GT's and must say they go like a Roket!
I know that I have driven more GT's that are not mine, than I can count!
The other persons car I have driven the most is Camillo's!
He is a trusting soul!
Thank you to all who have let me share there pride and joy on or off the track

I've let my wife and two sons drive it briefly around the neighborhood.
And last year my buddy Chris drove with me from SoCal to Rally IV in Austin and back, as well as lap sessions at TWS and a few runs at the Texas Mile.
I know his capabilities from previous track days when he pilots his Porsche.

Last March, I had my college buddy, Ed Matsuishi, drive mine to the Legends of Riverside one morning. Ed is the friend that races a vintage 911 SWB Porsche that I crew for at the Monterey Historics and other vintage races. He was very, very careful (he's ridden in it many times with me) and it was quite a thrill for him. No one else except mechanics and service managers at service facilities.

GTJOEY,

Didn't you just drive someone else's car? Wasn't it a GT40?

Here it is .....................................

I’ve owned a string of Porsches for a number of years and had them serviced at a father and son Porsche service center in the greater Boston area that has been around since 1970. When I bought my GT I stopped by to show them the car and we got onto the topic of other owners in the Boston area. When I mentioned that Roketman had at GT they proceeded to tell me that Ron is an amateur driving legend in the Porsche world and one of the best Porsche pilots in the country. I was told he is one of the smoothest track drivers to ever sit in a Porsche. I’d let him drive anything I own.

Maybe 7 or 8 good friends and accomplished drivers. We really need to share this experience...

Only three others have driven my GT - other than me. My two sons (daughter can't drive a clutch) and a friend who shortly there after, died of cancer.

Anyone that asks. With me riding along. With my hand around their throat. Maybe. Sort of.

Just two!!! not including the Ford Mechanic.

Sad but true....more people have driven my Ford than I have.

In fact, I have yet to drive my GT. Since purchasing my GT one month ago, the dealer and Rich Roback have driven it. I thought it to be wise to have the sound mind of Rich test drive the GT for clear evaluation as I would have ignored any misgivings. So, as for now, my GT sits in storage until I can pick her up and make the drive from San Jose to San Diego...along historic Hwy 1. I'm counting the days.

Once she is home, I have only 5 people that will make the drive list. One wife, one friend, and three sons (once they are at the right age and maturity.)

What about your other wives? Don't they drive stick? :biggrin

Only one wife, and she's a keeper... but she doesn't know how to drive stick yet? Will teach her on the Mustang first.

Just my son in an empty parking lot. As far as I know youngest GT driver ever at 11. He did well. No stalls but stayed in first gear. Just like my grandpa let me do years ago except it was a 65 Fairlane but still a Ford. Oh also the Ford tech at dealership. Wife does not want to drive ......I only asked her once.
