Yes I keep the car ! It is so magic. It's the 3rd GT I have. I have sold one here in Monaco to make some money as they are not available. The second one is for sale and the 3rd one I keep it for the time being. I have ordered a GTX1 from Gennadi with plenty options incl whipple S/C. It's a pity indeed that a so magic car be down by a $200 stuff !
tks to all of you for advices, and yes I have received now my Accufab's kit !

Great to hear you have the passion for the GT as many of us do as well. It is truly a fantastic marvel of automotive engineering!

The looks and smiles you get on a twisty road (in California lately) are definately worth the price of admission. So much so many owners are like yourself quickly becoming multiple car owners.

Glad you are with us on the Forum!

Enjoy.....

Ya, sure. I drive it every day. Now it is at the mechanic's for ignition total breakdown ! Why such a pleasure should be associated with trouble ? Nevertheless I cross my fingers and keep running...

Just out of curiousity, is this ignition problem related to the theft systems Europe requires, or is said system required in Monaco?

I ask because all the "ignition" problems J. Clarkson had with his (in the U.K.) was directly attributed to the required after market security system...which is NOT a Ford item.

No, the car is US origin with no mods. Just total blackout. No more ignition. will know more abt it when my mechanic returns from holdiays...

DBK or others "in the know" ... has anyone heard an actual target date for the Ford announcement on their fix for the bolt/washer problem? I understand it was indicated at the rally that this would be forthcoming "in the Fall" however cars continue to break and some owners (like me) have elected to wait for the OEM fix rather than replace with the Accufab kit now, even though I carry one and tools in the car just in case. The longer the official announcement and Ford parts availability are delayed, the less likely I am to take a loooong trip with my GT ... which I want to do. Even a large company with a bureaucracy the size of Ford's, with I'm sure many sign-offs required, once specs are delivered to the vendor(s) ought to be able to source some bolts and washers in a couple of months and get part kits into the system.

Replace them. Not a big deal and worth the peace of mind. If the Ford kit is better, then upgrade. If it is equal or less, then you are done. Won't be a warranty coverage if you do it, but only a couple of hundred bucks to have it done or a couple of hours to do it by yourself.

Not worth the aggravation or getting stuck to bo-dunk land or the middle of the night for what the out of pocket cost would be. You can then go back to the pleasure of driving without that little problem in the back of your mind.

I did it, and glad I did. I'll see what Ford comes up with and make the decision then if I need to change again. In the mean time, it is no-stuck-AZGT :thumbsup

I guess that some GT owners have been talking to someone at Ford about this rear axle bolt issue because we have recieved many orders lately from people that tell us that Ford had recomended the "Accufab Bolt Kit". Who this is that is doing the recomending, I do not know but "thanks".

Several guys here on The 'Forum have said for months now that, when all's said & done, it'll end up being a, "6 of one ...1/2 dozen of the other", kind of deal choosing 'tween Accufab's or Ford's 'bolt kit solutions...

I am not aware of any "official" or behind the scenes Ford endorsement of your bolt kit. Maybe the uptick was from owners traveling to California for the rally and wanted to have one just in case... I will say you company has certainly provided a good product (using quality ARP bolts) to many GT owners and lowered the fear factor of being stranded in unframiliar territory with a half shaft failure.

I concur with Larry, for those owners with your kit already installed it probaly is a push as to have the new Ford "CA" kit installed. As you can comment on I do not believe any Forum participant has posted any bolt failures of your product. Really not likely as the actual bolt loads are relatively low (to the capacity of the M8 or your sourced ARP bolt strength) and the failure mode was electro plated induced hydrogen embrittlement (not strength).

Thanks again for providing many owners with an interum solution to the half shaft problem and being a supporter of our Forum!

I installed the Accufab bolt kit myself a few weeks ago. Two evening's worth of work after dinner & it was done. My original bolts were ok, but to me, it was worth the peace of mind. Anyone who has sfairly decent automotive skills (and tools) can do it. :thumbsup

Ford has not recommended anyone's kit.
We await their reply.
